VEHICLES IN A COMPANY NAME

A letter of authorization OR Power of Attorney is required for a person who is signing on behalf of a
company when giving a plate or any title transaction. We need proof of the business address when the
business is the purchaser of a vehicle. These requirements must be met BEFORE we can process the
transaction. This requirement pertains to the following transactions:
Replacement Plate, Over the counter Plate, Special Plate, Plate Transfer, Duplicate Title, Title
Transfer when either buyer or seller is a company.

1. An Authorization letter dated within the past 90 days can be given to an employee of the
business. The letter must be on a typed company letterhead, however the body of the letter can be
typed or handwritten. A Power of Attorney dated within the past 90 days can be given to an
individual that is not an employee of the business by an authorized representative of the
company. Vehicle Power of attorneys are available in our office.

2. The Letter or Power of Attorney must be signed by an authorized person identified below

 (Profit & Non-Profit) Executive Officer as indicated In the articles

3. The name of the person authorized must be typed as it appears on their Driver’s License

4. We will need a Front and back copy of the following acceptable forms of identification for the
authorized person

 A valid Pennsylvania Photo Driver’s License


 A valid Pennsylvania Photo Identification Card
 A valid Pennsylvania Photo Exempt Driver's License
 A valid Pennsylvania Photo Exempt Identification Card
 A valid U.S. Armed Forces Common Access Card
 Dependents of Armed Forces personnel must provide a valid United States Uniformed Services
Identification and Privilege Card (DD Form 1173).

5. For title transfers only: The Buyer must show proof that the business entity exists. The
Pennsylvania address must be listed.
 A utility bill in the name of the business OR
 A document issued by a federal or state government agency recognizing or
authorizing the existence of the business organization or non-profit corporation. An
example is a document such as a fictitious name filing form or a certificate of
registration for the business issued by the Department of Revenue or Department of State
OR
 A document creating or governing the business organization or non-profit
corporation. An example is the by-laws or articles of incorporation of a corporation, a
partnership agreement for a partnership or LLP or a certificate of organization or operating
agreement for an LLC.

Please use this letter as proof of authorization for (authorized person's name here as it
appears on their Driver's license) to perform motor vehicle transactions for (the company
name here as shown on the vehicle record). This authorization includes but is not limited to
license plate and title transactions.
