Ms. Deanne Everton

Executive Director, Rebuilding Together Silicon Valley
1701 S. 7th Street #10,
San Jose, CA 95112

Dear Ms. Everton:

On behalf of CTKL Consulting, we would like to thank you for the opportunity to work
with Rebuilding Together Silicon Valley. It is an honor to be working closely with an
organization that revitalizes homes, communities, and lives.

During such unique times and circumstances, it is important to have organizations like
yours returning to a normal operations cycle. We acknowledge the hardships endured
by Rebuilding Together during the pandemic, specifically the cancellation of the Spring
Rebuilding Day. With this is in mind, it is especially important to maintain steady
advertising and marketing efforts. CTKL Consulting hopes to remove this burden off
your shoulders.

Our proposal hopes to plan and provide community interactions with both in-person and
virtual events. With Rebuilding Together Silicon Valley’s 30th anniversary around the
corner, we would like to schedule an in-person barbeque as well as a virtual anniversary
party. Additionally, we would like to help with social media outreach. We have plans for
Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter marketing, as well as letter and email templates.
These would be used to raise company awareness, attract donors, and further brand
RTSV. We are passionate about working with Rebuilding Together to help improve the
lives of our community.

Please do not hesitate to reach out should any questions or concerns arise. Our project
manager, Cici Liu, can be reached via email at cliu@scu.edu. Again, we would like to
thank you for your time and cooperation. We are looking forward to working with
Rebuilding Together Silicon Valley!

Respectfully,
CTKL Consulting
Cici Liu, Trevor Williams, Kaylie Wu, Lucas Perez

Table of Contents
Executive Summary
Rebuilding Together Silicon Valley (RTSV) has been providing home repairs and
maintenance services to hundreds of clients at no cost for almost 30 years by
utilizing volunteered labor, donated supplies, and reduced cost materials.

CTKL Consulting is our group of Santa Clara Students with various education, work,
and volunteer experiences that want to help local non-profit organizations. Our group
was particularly moved by RTSV’s mission and are proposing to assist with planning
a creative celebration of RTSV’s upcoming 30th anniversary.

Our primary goals are to increase awareness of RTSV, secure more funding, and
build strong relationships between RTSV and the people and businesses of our local
community. We will do this through three main initiatives.

1. In-Person Event
 We will help plan a BBQ meetup; including outreach and a cost analysis
 Identify the best location and caterer

2. Virtual Event
 An agenda for a 90s themed costume party
 This event could be implemented instead of the in-person event, depending on
COVID restrictions, or in addition to the BBQ meetup

3. Media Outreach Package

 We will create two marketing outreach plans, one for social media and one for
physical mailing

Our consulting group is very eager to get started with our proposed plan. The rest of
this proposal will dive deeper into the specifics of our plan. Although the steps
detailed in the proposal are based on our initial meetings, we are always willing to
make changes as needed so please feel free to reach out if you have any
suggestions.

Introduction

Importance of Home Modifications for Seniors

Falls are a top reason why seniors lose independence and mobility. Hazards in the
home can add up overtime, making it easier for older adults to hurt themselves
(Institute of Medicine (US) Division of Health Promotion and Disease Prevention).
Home modifications for senior adults reduce fall risk and help older adults stay
independent and safe in their homes for as long as possible.

High Cost of Housing Repairs in the Bay Area

A 2015 U.C. Berkeley report showed over half of the senior renters in the Bay Area
did not have enough income to meet basic needs (Ebner), and less seniors have
enough saved for necessary and essential home repairs and modifications.

Rebuilding Together Silicon Valley

Rebuilding Together Silicon Valley (RTSV) believes everyone deserves a safe and
healthy home. RTSV’s work supplies many low-income families, specifically targeting
the elderly and persons with disabilities. Their clients, on average, are about 74 years
old and make approximately $32,000 a year and have been living in these homes for
about 25 years (FY 2019 Annual Report). RTSV both revitalizes and stabilizes these
vulnerable communities and have been providing their service at no cost for almost
30 years.

Rebuilding
In the year 2019, RTSV made 4,366 repairs to 389 homes and 11 facilities. Their
volunteers donated 17,230 hours of service work and served 657 homeowners and
25,353 clients in the facilities. Ultimately, they provided $9 in repairs for every $1
dollar donated (FY 2019 Annual Report). RTSV improves safety, physical and mental
health, foster independence, and increase community connection.

2
Impact from COVID-19
With the coronavirus pandemic, RTSV has been forced to put a halt to their typical
operations cycle, even cancelling their Spring Rebuilding Day. As a nonprofit
organization, they rely heavily on donations and volunteers to maintain their work. It
is perhaps more important than ever to ensure RTSV has sufficient advertisement
and marketing to ensure they can get back on their feet. We have a three-pronged
approach to ensuring strong connections with the community, as well as volunteers
and donors.
Project Rationale
Our Plan
Our main goals for this project are to raise awareness about Rebuilding Together
Silicon Valley and to increase fundraising during this troubling pandemic that has
been causing operational issues for your organization. We will do this by planning an
in-person and virtual event, in case we cannot do the in-person one due to the
pandemic, as well as creating a media package for outreach using the marketing
materials that we’re provided by your team.

In-Person Event
We intend to provide the means to plan an in-person BBQ event for Rebuilding
Together Silicon Valley to have a day to connect with the community. We hope to
provide potential locations, catering options, and determine the respective price
ranges to ensure they fit RTSV’s budgeting plans.

Virtual Event
Rebuilding Together Silicon Valley is approaching their 30th anniversary! To
commemorate this event, we plan on creating a virtual party via Zoom. As RTSV was
founded in 1991, we will assign a 90s costume theme to ensure wholesome
nostalgia along with entertaining festivities.

Media Outreach

3
The media outreach plan will have two different aspects: the social media front and
the mail plan. Each will provide a different style of advertising intended to reach out
to different groups and audiences.
The social media front will provide Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram posts used to
promote future events and opportunities. The mail plan, which extends to both
physical letters and emails, will be distributed to a potential email list and is also
intended to promote the upcoming in-person and virtual events.

Potential Obstacles
The main obstacle that we see potentially happening is the pandemic getting in the
way of holding our in-person event. In that case, we will move forward with the
virtual event and put more focus into that. However, in-person event that we plan we
can still be implemented further down the line if your team decides that is a viable
option.
