Question 2:

Commit suicide among teenager is getting worsen day by day and this thing is not
getting better. We know that on that age, most of them get to spend their life with joyous
activities with their family and friends. A teenager would commit suicide due to something
that has occurred in his or her life or because the teen is going through a series of emotions.
Based on National Health and Morbidity Survey from 1996 until 2015, the prevalence of
psychiatric morbidity among 16 years old and above getting riser from 10.6% to 29.2%. We
can see that many teenagers in our era cannot handle their emotions properly and they tend
to kill themselves. Most of teenagers’ reason when they want to commit suicide is mostly
because they want is to end the emotional pain that they are feeling. And when nothing else
works, suicide comes to their mind. There are lots of factors that makes teenagers tend to
commit suicide whether from their inner-self or surrounding.

Firstly, teenagers might have mental illness on their life. According to one major
study, more than 90 percent of young people who intentionally end their lives had been
diagnosed with at least one mental health disorder. Mental disorder that exist in teenagers’
life are ADHD, bipolar disorder, anxiety and as well as major depression. These disorders
could lead to feelings of hopelessness and isolation among people around them and also
could affect a teens’ physical health, school performance and social interaction. This is
because they feel that their life is just plain and empty and no one cares about their
existence. So, as parents, they should always observe their children’s behaviour whether
leads to mental health disorder or not. If the result shows that their children have the mental
illness disorder’s sign, they can seek help from psychiatric before the thing worsen and their
children commit suicide.

After that, teenagers also tend to commit suicide if they have a huge pressure on
their life. This is because many of them have their own problems and how they could solve
the problems. If they cannot solve the problems by themselves, they tend to feel guilty
toward the people on their surrounding such as family and friends because on this kind of
age, teenagers are not just doing things just for their own satisfaction but the people around
them too. For example, many teenagers want to get flying colours for their examination just
to make their parents proud with their triumph in exam. They had done many things just to
achieve their target by study hardly. But on examination, they could not afford to reach their
target, they will feel that all of their effort is meaningless and they will feel guilty towards their
parents because they could not give happiness for them. So, they will get depressed and
lastly commit suicide. Mostly students also having stress because they need to submit all
their assignments on the same day. This things occurs when they like to procrastinate on
their job and keep it until the last day of submission. In the end of the day, they will get lack
of sleep and get stressed out and there are some student that commit suicide because of
assignments. As a student, they should do a time management to make their life more
systematic and no more hassle to do lots of job in one time and need to avoid
procrastination. They can do the time management by making a list-to-do for that day and try
to accomplish their job within the time. So, they will submit their assignment right on the time
and can focus to do something else without getting worry.

Furthermore, bullying is also one of the factor that can lead the teenagers to do
suicide. Bullying is mostly happened among school aged children the bullies uses his
strength or power to harm another person repeatedly and threaten them whether physically
or psicological abused. Bullying can occur everywhere, with anybody, regardless of race or
position in society. There are two types of bullying; direct and indirect bullying. Through
direct bullying, bullies usually tend to tease, threatening, hitting or stealing from their victims
and indirect bullying are spreading a bad rumour about somebody and make them feels
ashamed or make social isolation by leaving the victims all by alone. If this happens
continuously, it is likely that the victim will experience lots of problem in their life such as their
academic performance decreases but also causes mental health problems and physical
injury. This is because they could not defend themselves for being bully and they also does
not have power and courage to fight back the bullies. Their friends that also wanted to help
them cannot do anything to save them because if they do, they also will be bullied by the
bullies. The victim prefers to keep their problems all by themselves and this will lead to
suicide because they cannot bear the pain that the felt for the long term and want to be free
from it. So, the victim should prepare themselves how to fight back the bullies in a legal way.
They should report the bullies to the discipline teacher so that the bullies will get punished by
the teacher. The victim should be given a moral support from his surrounding especially their
friends. They should always be by their side and try to protect them from being bullied
because bullies scared to bully the person whose have friends by their side.

In a nutshell, indeed suicidal activities become a trend that occurs in our society,
especially teenagers. Therefore, all parties need to work together in preventing this to be a
practice among Malaysians. So, in order to prevent suicide from getting worsen, parents
should expose to their children about stress and how to overcome it in a good way. They
also can be a good listener when their children have problems and solved it together. The
children will feel the love atmosphere around us and they will not think to do suicide. School
also need to take action by doing campaign about awareness of suicide. From this
campaign, teenagers can know about what is suicide and how to overcome it.
