AAWC Lesson Reflection

School: Al Reefa’a Class: 4-4 Date of Observation: 12/11

Select:
Identify a specific feature of the lesson:
The lesson was about estimate quotient

Describe:
Who is the lesson for?
Where did the lesson take place?
What were you trying to achieve in your lesson?
What did the students do?

The lesson was about solving division problems and estimate quotient.
 I taught the lesson online in Teams. The previous lesson the students learned about
Identify divide patterns and multiple of 10,100,1000
 A teacher was trying to achieve goals, like Planning for Learning and to plan for the
learning outcome and always look for where the student has trouble and work on it to
improve it by a variety of strategies.
In the starter, I made a warm up about estimating multiplication with PowerPoint and explained
what Estimate Quotient mean.
In addition, I provided and modeled some examples of division problems and estimate them. I
showed how we estimate 1168 and explained that this is a great number so we can estimate the
number to make it easier for us to divide by rounding the 1168 to 1200 and this way 1200/6=200
we move the zero’s first and then we divide 12 by 6 which is 2.
I presented the PowerPoint to work on the book and practice more.
I made a Uno cards game to enhance students to learn. In each card there is a division question.
For example Card 1 has 3000/15=300.

Analyze:
Why do you think the students responded the way that they did?

How well did your teaching relate to the students’ prior understanding?

How well did you engage the students?

 I think that students responded to this activity with high expectation and were so excited
to participate which shows that the Gradual Release of Responsibility Model worked. I
introduce and model then practice. So, the learner did understand the concept and
answered the right answer .I used the PowerPoint to review of their prior knowledge of
what they took in multiple by 10,100,1000, also I used whiteboard to model the lesson
and practice with the learners.
 I used ClassDojo for behavior management, it challenge the students to competence each
other to have a higher points and also control the classroom.
 Students has high participate in Uno cards game, using new games and strategies develop
the learner level and increases the critical thinking and solving problems.

Appraise:
Explain the nature of the experience from the students’ perspective
Did your lesson meet your teaching goals? Why?/Why not?
 The educator used the chat to answer the question. Students liked the Uno card games a
lot it challenges them to think fast and solve problems with excitements.
 I used summative assessment to assess student’s comprehension, I gave the mastery a
challenging assessment, and the developed and emergent questions that suit their level.
 I met my goal because I planned very well to give the students the best practice, I used
check list to check for student’s comprehension and it shows that everyone understands
because of their grades and the average took from 8/10 and 10/10.
 As the Responsive Classroom argues that, “Interactive Modeling is a simple, quickly
paced way of teaching that can lead students to a stronger mastery of skills than
traditional modeling. It’s effective for teaching any skill or procedure that students need to
do in a specific way, such as filling out an answer sheet or talking with a partner about a
reading selection. Interactive Modeling works because, in contrast to lecturing or
traditional modeling, it creates a clear mental image of the expected behavior for students,
fully engages them in noticing details about it, and immediately gives them a chance to
practice and receive teacher feedback[CITATION Res13 \l 1033 ].

 A teacher developing idea and practices about performance assessment: Successes,

stumbling blocks, and implications for professional development. Since it’s little bit

harder for them because of the vocabs that they don’t know.

Transform:
How might you enhance student learning of this lesson in the future?
What are the implications for your professional practice?
 In the future, I would like to allow students to compete and make the lesson more
challenging and fun. By asking student a question and the first student that answer
correctly will compete with the second student and so on.
 Something didn’t went well, was internet issue which wasted the time waiting for students to answer while
sound shutter and screen freezes.
