I believe that this world is doubtful because we question everything and despite having the
answers to the previous questions, a number of queries come up again.
The curious kind of life is the best kind of life.
The most important thing man must have is determination.

1. Can these statements be considered philosophies?

- Yes, because in philosophy, we have our own beliefs that help us define what we
know in the world. These statements show how I view the world.
2. Can philosophy help you clarify and define these statements? How?
- Yes, because with the use of philosophy, we can formulate questions that further
explain the meaning of these sentences. We can analyze these statements

ACTIVITY 2:

Analyze some of the choices that you have made in your life by classifying them using the
graphic organizer.

MY CHOICES

MY OWN DECISION INFLUENCED BY OTHERS

 Rarely participate in  Always participating in
extracurricular activities in junior extracurricular activities in
high school elementary
 Study senior high school at MSU  The path I’m going to take in
 What I wear college

Discuss:
1. Based on the nature of your personal choices, can you say that you are a totally free
person?
- When I was in elementary, I always participated in extracurricular activities even if I
did not like joining them since they have equivalent points that are included in the
ranking system in my school. But when I started high school, I decided not to and just
focus on my academics and join only competitions that I like, such as dancing. My
dad also did not want me to study at MSU in my senior high school given the difficult
situation right now, yet I insisted. Choice of clothing is a something that people find
importance in and my mom also wants me to wear dresses and skirts, however I prefer
to be in clothes that I am comfortable in. I have not yet decided what I would like to
pursue in college, and I don’t have a certain profession that I would have to achieve
yet. My mom is persuading me to study medicine and that has been going on since I
started high school. With this, I already have that path stuck in my mind. Still, they
give me freedom to choose what I would like to do. With these choices, I believe that
I am a free person, most especially when I started high school, considering that I only
do things that I want to do.
2. What is your ultimate cause or destiny in life?
- My ultimate cause or destiny in life is to be happy. I want to be happy because I was
able to finish school, start working and do things that I have always wanted to do, like
traveling with my family, attending concerts of my favorite bands, and eating foods
that I have never eaten before. I want to give my parents and sister more than what
they gave me. Since as of now, I do not have any dream profession yet, I hope that I
enjoy doing what I end up doing and live the best of my life.

ACTIVITY 3: DISCUSSION
1. What are your personal ideas about the nature of world and the universe?
- The world is a mysterious place inside another mysterious place. The world, found
inside the universe, is where we live in. It defines our existence, our past, present and
future. Our journey to finding out about everything in the world and the universe is
like a road trip on a highway with no ends. We can discover new things to find out
that there is actually a lot more figure out.
2. What characteristics distinguish man from all other things that exist?
- Men have the ability to know. We have the ability to learn and understand things,
concepts and ideas. We can put our thoughts into words, and we can share it with
everyone else. What we learned can be taught and passed on to generations and
generations until new knowledge is obtained again.
3. In your personal life, what are the things that you consider “real”, “true”, or unchanging?
- In my personal life, one thing that I consider unchanging is change. Many things
about me changes as I grew up. My likes and dislikes, views about the world, and
personality changed. Other than that, I also consider my belief in God and my love for
my family true and unchanging. They are who I hold on to ever since I was a child
and I believe that it will continue for life.
4. Did you experience a situation where you had to defend our beliefs? Explain.
- I have not yet experienced a situation like this. Whenever I have thoughts that are in
conflict with others’, my parents always remind me not to get into arguments as long
as my rights are not violated, and no events like that has ever happened yet.
5. Have you experienced a situation where what you believed to be true turned out to be
untrue? How did this experience affect you?
- Before, I am the kind of person who tends to easily believe what I read online. What I
first read is already stuck in my mind that when I see something that opposes it, I just
brush it off and disregard it. After I see something that would make me believe
otherwise, I would get annoyed at myself for being reckless and not try to look into
the situations further until I find what is right. But now, since this happened to me a
lot of times already, I try to research and find out more about things before believing
it.
