process But the emission norms of EURO III and EURO IV
are forcing engine manufacturers to develop
more sophisticated heavy-duty engines using
an improved combustion process that matches
the new tough emission limits.

The new engine generation is equipped with highly

sophisticated injection pumps that generate much
higher injection pressures. At the same time injection
nozzles are extremely sensitive to any contaminant
in the fuel. Hence the need for a totally new and
sophisticated filtration media: StrataPore.

The very finest protection

In heavy-duty filtration, the efficiency of the
filter is the key to protecting the engine.
Analysis of fuel from heavy-duty diesel
engines has shown that about 90% of the
particles that can harm an engine have a size
between 5 and 15 Micron. Unequalled by any
traditional filter media, StrataPore performs
at least twice as efficiently as cellulose and
delivers almost 100% filtration efficiency for
this range of particles.

While other filter medias are made of cellu-

lose or glass fibres, Fleetguard's StrataPore
media is a composite of bonded layers of
synthetic filter media. While fibre diameters
of cellulose range from 12 to 60 microns,
StrataPore polymeric fibres range from less
than 1 to 10 microns. StrataPore filter media
is less restrictive and delivers a much finer fil-
tration. Each layer of StrataPore is developed
to provide optimum pore size distribution so
that the composite medium meets the specific
filtration requirements of the application.
StrataPore provides unique advantages that a
traditional filter media can not offer and fully
meets or exceeds injection pump manufactur-
ers requirements.
