COURSE OBJECTIVES:

• To introduce the concept of resource planning.


• To know about the resource allocation and levelling techniques in single and multi-projects.
• To study the various Systems approach in resource management.
• To evaluate the resources - material, equipment, labour, and time.
• To know about the Skill in management of Time.

CO1: Resource Planning: Resource Planning, Procurement, identification, Personnel, Planning for
material, Labour, time schedule and cost control. Types of resources, manpower, Equipment, Material,
Money, Time.

CO2: Resource Allocation and Levelling: Time-cost trade of, Computer application in resource
levelling examples, resource list, resource allocation graph, Resource loading, Cumulative cost ETC –
Value Management.

CO3: Resources Management: Systems approach in resource management, characteristics of


resources, Resources, Utilization, measurement of actual resources required. Tools for measurement
of resources- Labour-classes of Labour-Cost of Labour- Labour Schedule- optimum use Labour.

CO4: Materials and Equipment: Time of purchase- Quantity of material- sources- Transportation-
Delivery and Distribution. Planning and selecting by optimistic choice with respect to cost- Time-

Time: Personnel time- Management and planning - Managing time on the project - forecasting the
future - Critical path measuring the changes and their effects. Cost control: Cash flow and cost control
- objectives of cost - Time and Quality.
