Preparing a Beverage Cart

One of the essential roles of a Flight Attendant is to provide customer service by way of a
beverage service. In order to successfully maintain positive satisfaction with customers while
remaining alert to safety related issues that may arise, ensuring you have all supplies needed on
the beverage cart during service is crucial to more efficiently perform your job duties. This set of
instructions should help in not only simplifying the set up of the beverage cart, but also preparing
for a smooth delivery of service.

Ice Preparation
1. Remove cart from galley compartment.

2. Remove safety seals from cart latch by twisting and pulling


outwards.

3. Open cart doors and ensure they are secured to side.

4. Remove blue ice drawers with pre-placed bag ice inside and
set on top of cart.

5. Ensure pre-placed plastic liners in ice drawers are in place.

6. Retrieve ice mallet from provisioning carrier.

7. Utilize mallet to tap on ice, breaking it from one solid block to


separate pieces.

8. Return mallet to provisioning carrier.

9. Open bag of ice and disperse into the lined drawer.

10. Return ice drawers to original positioning in cart.

Cart Toppers
1. Retrieve cart liner from provisioning carrier and
place on top of cart.

2. Retrieve Cart Topper from cart topper carrier


and place on top of cart.

3. Remove pre-placed coffee carafes, cups, and


condiment caddy and set aside.

4. Unwrap cups and place back into cart topper.

5. Replace coffee carafes back into cart topper


with the handles hanging outside the topper
walls.

6. Retrieve two water bottles from supply cart


and place next to cups in cart topper.

7. Hang condiment caddy on the cart topper wall


opposite the coffee carafes.

8. Fill the coffee carafes with coffee and replace.

Snack Buckets
1. Retrieve two snack buckets from carrier.

2. Open bags of snacks already housed inside the


buckets.

3. Place snacks into the buckets.

4. Hang buckets on side of the beverage cart


opposite the doors.

As you perform the beverage service, you can feel confident that you have all the supplies you
need to fulfill your responsibilities according the the company standards, all helping approach
customers with a positive and ready attitude.
