The following standard procedure will assist in importing Victaulic piping components
and their associated database properties into Autodesk Fabrication CADmep 2015.

*All data locations described in this procedure point to default installation locations. If the
default installation location has been modified you are responsible for locating the proper
database folders.

** Contents of the downloaded zip file should be extracted to the following location:

“C:\Users\Public\Documents\Autodesk\Fabrication 2015\Imperial
Content\V***\Items\Imperial Content\Mechanical\Systems”

V*** refers to the version number of software that you currently have installed.

1.0 Database Review and Backup

Before starting the Victaulic data import, it is important to back up your existing
database. This will prevent any irreversible damage should something happen to the
database during the import process.

The first step in backing up the database is to locate the database you will be modifying.
This can be achieved by starting a new instance of Fabrication CADmep 2015 and
typing “APPINFO” in the AutoCAD command line.

Take notice as to where the “Configuration” folder is directed to. Close Fabrication
CADmep 2015 and navigate to the configuration folder through “Windows Explorer” or
“My Computer”. If you have not modified the default installation, the configuration folder
can be located at:

“C:\Users\Public\Documents\Autodesk\Fabrication 2015\Imperial
Content\V***\Items\Imperial Content\Mechanical\Systems”

Copy the “Imperial Content” version folder and paste it in the same directory. Modify the
name of the backup folder to distinguish between the two, leaving the original folder
name unchanged. See the image below for an example.

1.0 Database Review and Backup (cont.)

Another good practice is to purge your database of unused components before starting
the import. This is not a necessary step but it is recommended. To do this, start a new
instance of Fabrication CADmep 2015. In the open drawing area, shift + right click to
access the expanded CADmep menu. Navigate to and select “Manage Database”.

You will receive a message warning you to back up the database. You may select “Ok”
to continue. The “Manage Database” dialog box will appear next.

You will have the choice whether to purge or make permanent any change that shows in
the dialog box. You may also choose to compact the database if there is any wastage.
Make your selection and select “Close” to finish the operation.

2.0 Adding ITM’s to Folders

In order to place the Victaulic components into a drawing or service, you must first add
the ITM’s to the “Item Selector” or Folders interface. If the Folders interface is not
showing; type ‘FOLDERS’ on the AutoCAD command line. Navigate to ”Imperial
Content/Mechanical/Systems” and right click on “Systems” and select “New Folder”.

When the dialog box opens, select “Browse” and locate the folder where the Victaulic
ITM’s were extracted. The default location is:

“C:\Users\Public\Documents\Autodesk\Fabrication 2015\Imperial
Content\V***\Items\Imperial Content\Mechanical\Systems \Victaulic (OEM)”

Make sure to check the checkbox that says “Add Sub Folders Too” is checked and
select “Ok” to finish the operation.

Should the following message box come up, select “Overwrite It” and “Apply To All”. This
will overwrite any existing connector file with the same name. This message should not
come up unless you have previously imported connectors from Victaulic.

If the message box above does not appear, the import was successful and you may now
start using your newly imported Victaulic ITM files.
