Euthanasia

Some people think that euthanasia should be legal. I don’t agree with this opinion. Let me give you
some supportive arguments. Euthanasia is the practice of intentionally ending a life to relieve a
pain or suffering. It is in conflict with most religions and legalizing it will bring negative influences
to the whole society. According to most religions all human life is worth protecting.
The problem that will always exist with euthanasia is that terminally ill patients may choose to die
through feelings or guilt. They may feel guilty about the burden that they are putting on their
families and choose to die for this reason alone.
Euthanasia is legal in only a handful of countries and suicide statistics show us that these countries
are inclinable to suicide.
Nowadays alternatives, such as cessation of active treatment, combined with the use of active pain
relief are available, so death is not necessary.. There is big possibility of new treatment being
developed in time to cure the illness someone is facing.
I think, it is not moral to end the patient’s life because he has right to live longer. People who are
in comas and have not indicated that they wish to die have the right to live until the natural end.
Also, euthanasia is so expensive. I can’t see its point. If somebody can spend so much money on
dying, then they can afford the highest quality medicines, too.
In conclusion, I think that euthanasia can not be matter of self-determination and personal beliefs
and I consider it equivalent of murder, which is against the law everywhere, where society respects
human life.
