Employment Report 2008

Access the world’s most diverse pool
of global business talent
MiF Director’s Summary

We are pleased to present our highly talented graduating

students from the full-time Masters in Finance (MiF)
programme. These graduating students were faced with
an unexpected difficult market but we are pleased to
report that within three months of graduation, 83% had
full time offers of employment of which 80% accepted.

Our graduate’s success is demonstrated by the number

of senior lateral hire positions secured across a range of
sectors which shows the level of expertise, strong
technical skills and the competitive advantage that our
recruiters value in our graduates.

The MiF’s specialist finance skills together with their

experience have allowed them to pursue a diverse range
of jobs within finance sectors such as Venture Capital,
Private Equity & Corporate Banking. We have also seen a
slight increase of students moving into finance roles in
Industry and over double the number of graduates
moving into Consulting since 2007. Career Services has
been working to support these students to diversify into
various areas of finance by strengthening our recruiter
relationships across all sectors to connect them with
these opportunities.

Graduates from the Masters in Finance acquire deep

analytical and quantitative skills through their course
academics, enabling the 2008 graduates to be suitable
for a wide range of job functions from asset management
through to general management.

In addition, the quality and international appeal of our

students to recruiters is reflected in the spread of
geographic locations in which our students have
accepted positions. We continue to forge strong links
globally and 2008 saw students participate in the third
annual Dubai trek as well as the second Asia trek. It is
not surprising with the rapid economic development in
Contents Asia that we see 26% of our students choosing to accept
positions within this region.
