Kiskendo cave
Exploring the nature is indeed both fun and challenging. In fact, everyone can do it
regardless of the experience. What they need is a good tourist spot to enjoy the activity! As
for the reference, Kulon Progo Regency offers tons of natural attractions for everyone to
explore including the one called Kiskendo Cave. It is located in Jatimulyo Village and belongs
to Girimulyo Sub-District, actually. To be exact, it resides in the border between Kulon Progo
and Purworejo Regency. Not visitors can explore the cave comfortably, but they can also
learn the history of the site!
Kiskendo Cave offers both beauty and historical value. The location is on 1200 meters
above the sea level, so it offers a refreshing air, comfortable environment, and breathtaking
panoramas. The most noticeable feature is the carvings located on the walls, telling a story
regarding local myths and ancient kingdoms. No wonder, tourists often come to the site to
conduct photography. In terms of size, the cave is considered moderate but it requires a
flashlight and experienced guide if tourists want to explore it. Located near to the cave,
several facilities reside including a camping ground, kid playground, gazebos, etc.
The first allure in visiting Kiskendo Cave is the fun trip itself. It is because tourists need
to spend some time in order to get to the location, passing through a narrow road.The next
thing that makes Kiskendo Cave popular is definitely the sacredness. This explains why some
locals come to the cave to look for a blessing by conducting a hermitage at night
The distance between Adisucipto International Airport and Kiskendo Cave is 41.3 km.
That means the trip may take around 1 hour and 8 minutes to get to the site. For a faster
trip, it is recommended to take Godean Street, though. Their first destination is Girimulyo
Sub-District. Next, they only need to reach Jatimulyo Village and conduct a short trekking to
the cave right away.
