What are the benefits of farming? ● It provides food and shelter ● It creates healthier soil ● It prevents erosion ● It creates jobs ● It creates better water preservation ● Maintains the health and population of livestock THE IMPORTANCE OF FARMING
Without farming people would still have to forage and
grow their own food, in 1820, 72% of the American population were farmers. Today, just 1.3% is responsible for feeding America.
Not many people are aware that farming is
responsible for producing a lot of products we use everyday such as, clothes, fuel, paper, and raw materials. DIFFERENT TYPES OF FARMING CROP Crop farming is the most important part of agriculture.
Not only do the crops provide food
for us but for our animals too, whether it be your pets or livestock.
You can grow just about any type of
natural food in a crop as long as you have the right environment. ANIMALS Animals are a big part of agriculture and can be farmed for their meat, dairy, wool, and eggs (if its a chicken).
These are large groups of domesticated
animals and their purpose in life is to repopulate and feed us.
This is a very difficult and emotional job
but one of the most rewarding. LOGGING Not many people think of logging as a part of agriculture, but it is and it's just as important as crop and animals.
Without logging we wouldn't have paper,
furniture, houses, etc.
Today, logging companies are required to
replant trees after harvesting them, this is also very important because without trees we wouldn't have as much oxygen. Summary Agriculture is one of the most important contributors to the economy, contributing about $1.1 trillion a year.
Right here in the midwest we have the
richest soil in the world and the best environment that allows us to grow and produce for the American people.
When you buy groceries, eat a meal, feed
your dog, or turn your heat on, don't forget to thank a farmer. SO GOD MADE A FARMER
