Lesson Plan: Dreidel (36, page 79)

Objectives: Students will play “Dreidel“ together at a comfortable tempo with pizzicatos and bows, hold

bows correctly, play comfortably, and play with correct posture.

Procedures: 1) Warm up: Sing D major scale, then sing only from tonic to dominant. Repeat with

plucking.

2) Have students look over parts and ask if there are any troubling measures, then

demonstrate if so and have students repeat.

3) Have all instruments pluck first line by itself, then second line to address any issue

4) Have students play by instrument to address and fix any technical or note errors.

5) Play once more as a group with plucking

6) Play song with bows, and add any dynamics or artistic choices to make song more alive.

Assessment: 1) Checking bow holds and posture throughout the lesson.

2) Listening to students playing, having them play certain parts to fix any complications.
