Praxis Core Exam Analysis

Exam Requirements

The Praxis Core Exam is important because it measures ones academic skills in math, reading,

and writing. This test is created by teachers for future teachers, it also helps test if someone is

ready to be the teacher by passing and understanding the comprehensive assessments. According

to NSC we are considered “pre” elementary education majors and will be full majors when we

pass the Praxis and get accepted into a university. These scores are from NSC: math-150,

reading-156, and writing-162.

Exam Preparation

If I am being honest I only studied for the math probation of the practice test. I studied by

looking over and doing practice questions through Khan Academy. As for reading and writing

portions I just really took my time, since this isn’t timed I was able to read every question

carefully as well as move on to the next question then go back and change an answer if I felt I

was wrong with my first responses.

Exam Results

In the Math version 1 practice test I scored a 43 out of 54, meaning a 80%. Which means I am

likely to pass the Math section of the official Praxis Core Exam. In the Reading version 1

practice test I scored a 46 out of 56, meaning a 82%. Which means I would be likely to pass the

reading section if I took the official Praxis Core Exam. In the Writing version 1 practice test I

scored a 30 out of 40, meaning a 75%. Which means I am on the borderline to pass or fail

depending on if I improve the next time I take it on the official Praxis Core Exam.

Future Exam Preparation

Looking at my scores I feel like I should definitely practice in all 3 categories because I had so

much time to take the practice that I won’t have all the time to think and go back and change my

answers, so studying will help reinforce myself and do better for the real test.
