December 2009, Forbes named Scribd "One of the Top 10 Most Popular Initiatives." Fast Company
named Scribd "One of the Top 10 Most Innovative by Media Companies" in February 2010. In May
2010, Scribd was recognized as "One of San Francisco's Popular Companies" by Lead411. 16 On
September 1, 2010, the World Economic Forum announced the company at a Technology Seminar
for 2011. Following the award given by the World Economic Forum, Time magazinenamed Scribd
one of the "10 New Companies That Will Change Your Life." 17

In February 2010, Scribd announced its first mobile plans for e - books and smartphones 18 in April
2010 Scribd added a new feature called "Readcast" , 19 which allows automatic exchange of
documents on Facebook and Twitter . 20 Also in April 2010, Scribd announced its integration
into social plug-ins on the Facebook network, during the Facebook f8 development

The company was initially founded on a US $ 12,000 budget on loan from the Y
