Third Grade Social Studies

Assessment Plan

Created by Samantha Longanecker

Assessment Plan: Third Grade - Tennessee Social Studies

This assessment plan follows the third grade Tennessee state standards of public education for the 2020-2021 academic school year.

The pacing of this assessment plan will serve as informative to all stakeholders and allow for interventions to be put into place to ensure the

success of all students within the subject area of social studies at grade three.

Intended Audience: Educators, Academic Coaches, and Administrative Department

Objectives: This detailed assessment plan will serve as a baseline for educators to pace and plan third grade social studies assessments for the

academic school year. Data teams will also use this plan to guide their data team discourse throughout the year.

Strategies: Educators will create common assessments and track student progress throughout the year. Data will be analyzed, and

intervention planned to remediate, target, and enrich instructional practices for each social studies standard assessed. This assessment plan

will serve as informative to instructional teams when planning and creating formative assessments. Assessment formats will mimic the

Tennessee standardized annual assessment known as TNReady. This strategy will assist students in gaining familiarity with the format of

their annual standardized summative state assessment.

Procedures: Educators, academic coaches, and school administration will meet twice quarterly to discuss common assessment data.

Educators will look at all student performance at the grade level and create an action plan appropriate to their population. The data team will

discuss student concerns and create intervention groups to remediate, target, and enrich student performance. The team will also have

discourse centered around sharing responsibility for all learners in the grade level regardless of homeroom placement. All learners assessed

will have a learning intervention plan that will meet their specific needs. Once student needs are identified and intervention groups are made,

the team will discuss how they will share this data and intervention plan with parents. End of year data team meetings will take place and this

assessment plan will be revised to improve for the 2021-2022 school year. All stakeholders will be present and contribute to discussing

strategies to improve assessment in this grade level and subject.

Timeline: August 2020 - May 2021
