Fire Jumper
The designation and the role of Fire Jumper
is a new requirement in Cisco® Master
Security Specialization requirements. The
pre-requisites to attain Master Security now
comprise:

Partner level:
 Advanced Security Architecture Specialization
(ASAS)
Individual level:
 (1) CCIE® Security, (1) CCNP® Security (new),
(1) Fire Jumper (new), (1) Project Management
Certification: PMI (PMP) or Prince 2
Fire Jumper: What It Includes
Recognition and reward framework and mentorship program
for Cisco® pre-sales systems engineer champions

The ideal Fire Jumper is considered to be among the best,


both technically and in salesmanship, within a partner
organization.

Each partner may have a Fire Jumper in each of the four


competency areas: Content Threat, Malware Threat,
Network Threat, and Secure Access and Mobility.

Fire Jumper status is annotated in Cisco internal tools and


may be validated by Cisco channel or specialization program

To Become a Fire Jumper One Must: To Maintain Fire Jumper Status One Must:

• Be in good standing with Cisco • Attend Fire Jumper calls quarterly

• Have a Cisco CSE sponsor • Be the named systems engineer on at least one
sale per year
• Be respected and valued within
• Assist in elevating skills of peers by delivering
their organization
training or encouraging them to take self-
• Have written support of their leadership service training
• Give a presentation or write a technical paper
• Achieve stage 4 in at least one of the

• Demonstrate loyalty through contribution or by partner community

Fire Jumper Stage 2: Recognized
SE completes training modules and associated COLT exams required for Stage 2
in competency area

• NGIPS & NGFW: ASA Firewall & NGIPS


• Email & Web Security: ESA, WSA, & CWS
• Policy & Access: ISE & AnyConnect
• Advanced Threat: AMP & Threat Grid

COLT results downloaded and Cisco updates SE records in internal tracking


system

Fire Jumper Stage 3: Verified
SE delivers Before, During, and After (BDA) whiteboard to GSSO CSE
• Standard BDA whiteboard for all competency areas
• Example video on competency posts
• Example PPT on program post

SE delivers short demos within competency area


• Required demos listed on competency posts

Verification can be completed in-person or via WebEx

Cisco updates SE records in internal tracking system

Fire Jumper Stage 4: Proficient
SE completes POV Training exercise
• Detailed training covering sizing, scoping, and POV
• Complete Fire Jumper Base Tour

SE delivers customer POV or completes POV training exercise


• Follow Best Practices from Security Community
• Complete Partner VT or similar training

Verification can be completed in-person or via WebEx

Cisco updates SE records in internal tracking system

Fire Jumper Stage 5: Fire Jumper
SE receives written nomination from partner leadership
• Agree to regularly attend Cisco Training
• Agree to engage with Cisco Security Community

SE engages with Cisco GSSO CSE sponsor


• Periodic engagement with sponsor
• Active involvement on Cisco sales opportunities

Nomination and sponsor information shared with GSSO Channel

Cisco updates SE records in internal tracking system
