PROCEDURE:

1) Round bottom flask was filled with 25 ml of 30% ethanol solution. A


few boiling chips were added to the round bottom flask.

2) A simple distillation apparatus has been set up as shown in the


diagram. The thermometer was put in the pocket of the thermometer.

3) When boiling, the liquid was heated at the constant level, of around
2-3 drops per second.

4) The stable temperature has been recorded as the boiling point of the
liquid to be distilled.

5) Ethanol obtained after distillation was measured and the percentage


of recovery was determined.
