Effects of poor personal hygiene on students

Personal hygiene is necessary for both physical and mental health. It is essential for both
physical and emotional wellness. This involves bathing, brushing teeth, cleaning hands and
other activities. Everyone should maintain a proper level of personal hygiene to maintain self-
esteem, especially on students. Moreover, at this time, the current COVID-19 outbreak has
impacted us all. So not only it makes other people uncomfortable but also make them avoid us
because the possibility of infection will occur.

Afterward, body odor is a pretty prevalent issue that can have an impact on a person's
quality of life. It caused by the combination of bacteria and perspiration produced by the
apocrine glands. Besides, it may also come from the body doesn't get used to bathing. Students
who are unable to bathe for an extended period may develop a condition known as
Bromhidrosis. It is an unpleasant or offensive body odor. Moreover, it can also lead to
embarrassment and discomfort for those around you.

Finally, have you ever talk to your friends, giggling with each other and then suddenly you
smell your friend’s breath reeks, and it is feeling too awkward to tell them about it? That is a
‘halitosis” in medical term or bad breath. It happens when you chew your food and the bacteria
on the food particles become stuck on your teeth, then it rots over time. Besides, poor hygiene
like brushing your teeth infrequently and smoking constantly also lead to dental disease and
possibly ruin your teeth.

In conclusion, as a student, good personal hygiene is essential for keeping the body healthy
and clean. It makes students keenly aware of the value of keeping themselves clean and neat.
Therefore, students must treat it seriously about the consequences of poor personal hygiene
because they tend to be prone to infection.
