In this chapter the research methodology used in the study is discussed.

The methods

and procedure that will be using are described. The data gathering procedure, sampling

technique and the data treatment are the procedures that can help the research in

finding the result of the research, Books Vs. Internet: The Preferred Choice for The

Sources of Information of Grade 10 Students of St. Mary’s Academy of Palo S.Y. 2017

– 2018.

RESEARCH DESIGN

The group used the Stratified Sampling. In this sampling technique, the group will be

choosing 15 (fifteen) participants in every section in Grade 10. The chosen participants

will be the respondents in gathering data for this research. There are three sections in

Grade 10 and each section has 15 (fifteen) participant. There would be a total of 45

(forty – five) students and those students are the chosen respondent. The 45 (forty –

five) students are the total sample.

RESEARCH INSTRUMENT

The data for this research will be collected using a survey questionnaire. The survey

was created using suitable questions that are related to the research formed by the

researchers. The survey was comprised with six questions and two tables that will ask

the participant’s perceptions towards their preference in choosing the sources of

information. If the permission will be given to conduct this survey, the survey will be

distributed to the chosen respondents. The researchers assured confidentiality of our

survey sheets since the identities are not important. The researchers will give the
students the opinion of being anonymous. Participants will be given the time to respond

and there will be no incentives offered for participating in the research.

DATA TREATMENT

In getting the sample size, the group used a formula which is P= R/t ×100 , P stands for

the total percentage of the sample. While R, stands for the number of respondents that

will be divided to T which is the total population and multiply to the margin of error. The

group use 100 as the margin of error. The collected data will be tabulate and analyze.

Analysis of the data will be guided by mean and percentage. Where: P= R/t ×100 P =

percentage R = number of sample T = total number of population
