LETTER OF RECOMMENDATION

Dear Admissions Committee,

I would like to express my best recommendation for my student, Himalay Patel for admission to the Master’s
program in Computer Science (MS in CS) at your prestigious university. I am the Head of Department of Computer
Engineering at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Institute of Technology (SVIT), Vasad which is affiliated to Gujarat
Technological University (GTU). I have known Himalay in my capacity as his HOD for over three years now during
which, I taught him the courses System Programming and Image Processing in the fifth and seventh semesters
respectively. I am also his final year project guide. A student with excellent ability for logical and intuitive thinking,
he has proved himself to be a talented and brilliant student.

Himalay not only performed well in his studies but also possesses good leadership qualities, which were reflected in
the classroom interactions and discussions where he was always the first to take initiative and start the discussions.
He has always been an active student during the lectures and lab sessions. He has the ability to immaculately
understand a problem and also conceptualize and analyze a situation.

Himalay’s final year project is “Home Security System”. Some of the features of the system are Authentication
using Face Recognition, Access-level based entry, 24x7 surveillance and Remote access through Android
application. Being his project guide, I know that he has a penchant for solving problems. He found a solution to each
problem which arose during working on the project after thinking meticulously. One example is- when he was
confronted by the problem that the system may fail in case of a power outage or a broken internet connection. He
researched about that and came up with an idea to introduce a Power Saving mode in the system. I am sure that he
will successfully accomplish this project.

Himalay is creative in thinking and always a good presenter of his ideas. He also has good management and
organizational skills. He was the department student coordinator in Engineer’s Day celebration (comprising many
technical events) held at our college. Our Department won all the events under his leadership. He has a strong desire
to surpass with the adequate skills and longing to succeed. During 21 years of my teaching experience, I have come
thousands of students. I would easily place him in the top 1 percentile of the students that I have taught. With your
eminent graduate studies program, I have confidence that he will sharpen his knowledge and gain valuable
experience. I wish him all the best and strongly recommend him as a deserving candidate for the Graduate Program
