Learning Task#6 - Situational Case Analysis (FA#3)

Adolescents are often motivated to seek new experiences, particularly those they perceive as
thrilling or daring so they use drugs for experiments and fun purpose. A common example is the
use of drugs. Teenagers are more prone to drug use because of peer pressure, boredom, being
rebellious, to satisfy their curiosity and to forget the problems that they have. They use drugs to
fit in, like they said “because others are doing it”, or they think others are doing it and they fear
not being accepted in a social circle that includes drug-using peers. Young people often want to
try new experiences especially ones that they think or trailing or daring. They use drugs because
some people tend to follow everything that they see even though they are not sure of it and don't
know the consequences behind it. Others who suffer from depression, anxiety stress- related
disorders and physical pain, may do drugs to try get some relief Adolescents may resort to
substance abuse when they can't find a healthy outlet for their frustrations. When they use drugs
they tend to have that “feel good” reaction and since the adolescent brain is still developing, it
might end up to addiction. They may use it for the purpose of instant gratification since the initial
effects of drug use feel really good. They may see it as a shortcut to the feeling of temporary
bliss. Some use drugs because of environmental influences. Growing up in poverty or in a house
that uses drugs and is suffering with drug addiction, violence or other negative factors may create
a high risk of why an individual uses illegal drugs. When they are adults, teenagers who misuse
drugs will have a higher chance of developing an addiction. Although the adolescent brain is still
growing, adolescent substance addiction may have long-term cognitive and behavioral
consequences. Experimentation plays a huge part in drug use in adolescents. Adolescent are
more prone to drug addiction than adults, because adolescent is a stage wherein are brain
specifically the prefrontal cortex is the one who is handling are reasoning, and in this age also we
are developing and growing to become aware on such things. We cannot avoid drugs in our life,
there are some drugs that good in our health. Like what we take if we are sick we need this kind
of drugs for us to feel better. But drugs like marijuana, heroin, cocaine they are drugs that are not
good in our health. We can say that these drugs have benefits, but taking this when you have no
doctor's prescription can put you on risk. Adolescent have lack of knowledge about this thing,
because of the curiosity they want to try this. Learning and being aware of the consequences can
help in preventing of using illegal drugs. Adolescents should know the possible risks and damage
from taking drugs. Seeking help when you have a problem and finding someone who can listen
to you and give you the support that you need can also be a big help. They should deal with life
pressure.
