The Newly Developed HiMSEN H17/28

got first order from overseas market

H HI-EMD has recently secured the first order of
5H17/28 diesel generating sets from Turkish
shipowner, Kaptanoglu group, one of the new model
of HiMSEN engine series which succeeded in Type
Approval Test(TAT) at the end of last year.
The 5H17/28 was in a difficult situation since most
conservative customers did not want to equip their
newbuilding vessels with the newly developed
engine.
However, the Kaptanoglu group recognized HHI-
EMD’s reliability, technical ability and skill from
previous engines ordered of 3x5H21/32 for
40,000DWT tanker; highly satisfied, Kaptanoglu
group decided to place an order of the newly
developed HiMSEN 5H17/28 engines.
This consecutive order from Turkey, one of the
European Union(EU) candidates, is believed to
provide HHI-EMD with a firm foothold to expand its
sales activity of HiMSEN engine toward European
market and shows again that the HHI-EMD’s engine
is recognized worldwide for its superb performance
and reliability.
It has been four years since HiMSEN engine,
Hyundai’s in-house and first in Korea, debuted in the
world market. So for, over 600 sets havs been
ordered and delivered; when classified by
application, 549 sets for marine diesel generation, 19
sets for main propulsion and 69 sets for land-based
power station; by shipyard, 20% for foreign shipyards
including overseas power plant and 80% for
domestic, which explains that HiMSEN engines
contribute greatly to the national economy; and by
shipowner, 92% orders from the foreign well-known
shipowners & plant owners and 8% orders from the
