When I saw his light shining forth,
In fear I covered my eyes with my palms,
Afraid for my sight because of the beauty of his form.
So I was scarcely able to look at him at all.
The lights from his light are drowned in his light
and his faces shines out like the sun and moon in one.
A spirit of light lodged in a body like the moon,
a mantle made up of brilliant shining stars.
I bore it until I could bear it no longer.
I found the taste of patience to be like bitter aloes.
I could find no remedy to bring me relief
other than delighting in the sight of the one I love.
Even if he had not brought any clear signs with him,
the sight of him would dispense with the need for them.
Muhammad is a human being but not like other human beings.
Rather he is a flawless diamond and the rest of mankind is just stones.
Blessings be on him so that perhaps Allah may have mercy on us
on that burning Day when the Fire is roaring forth its sparks.

Talking of beauty, you are the one that comes to the mind
For there’s not been a single soul more pleasant than you are
You are cleansed of all imperfection
You are one of a kind in all creation
One of the first and oldest words of poetry to praise Prophet (salla Llahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) by the Poet of the Prophet (salla Llahu ‘alayhi
wa sallam) Hazrat Hassan bin Thabit al-Ansari radi Allahu ‘anhu.

Some examples are given of the beautiful and melodious poetry from the greatest religious poet; Hassan Ibn Thabit (radi Allahu ‘anhu).
These words have been translated from Arabic and as in all attempted translations, meaning and often the actual beauty can be lost. However
these words do help us to understand the love of the Companions for our Prophet (peace & blessings upon him):
When I saw his light shining forth,
In fear I covered my eyes with my palms,
Afraid for my sight because of the beauty of his form.

When RasoolAllah salla Llahu ‘alayhi wa sallam had passed away the following Na’ats were recited. Imam Ibn Sa’ad writes, Hassaan Bin
Thaabit radi Allahu ‘anhu recited:
“Who can compare to the one who was Nûr, the one from whom light was extracted.
There were blessings in his commands and he was our Guide and Warner. He was such
a Nûr that his light shone upon the whole of the creation. The person who has shown us
the path of this blessed (Nûr) attained success. He was the light, he was the Nûr. It is
his footsteps that we follow, and after Allah, he was our ears and eyes.’

Praise of the Prophet by the Prophet Companion

He chose his name from His own name to honour him: He, One of the Throne is Mahmud and this [prophet] before us is Muhammad! A
tremendous prophet that suddenly came to us after great strife and an long gap in the chain of messengers, while idols were worshipped in
the lands by all. [In this darkness] he appeared as a light-giving lantern, guiding the way, gleaming as the best fashioned, shining swords do
gleam. He warned us of an awful fire and gave glad-tidings of a garden too marvelous to describe. He taught us Islam so Allah we now
continually praise and thank. And You, O Real God, are my cherishing lord and my creator; to this tremendous truth, as long as I live among
men, shall I be witness. How exalted, O Lord of Mankind, you are from the words of anyone who call upon any god besides: You are higher
and more majestic. To You and You alone belongs all creation, it is You who grace all who are graced and all rule and being return only to
You. So from You alone do we seek guidance and You alone do we worship.
For Allah’s reward for every believer who makes Allah alone their lord and goal is fresh, verdant gardens of Paradise, beyond number and
beyond human understanding, in which each will be made to live immortally.

On the command of Your (PBUH) blessed Finger, the trees began to walk, the stones began to speak through Your

The moon split into two upon one gesture of your (PBUH) blessed Finger.
