-Beethoven: The Fifth Symphony was premiered on 22 December 1808 at a mammoth concert
at the Theater an der Wien in Vienna consisting entirely of Beethoven premieres, and directed
by Beethoven himself on the conductor's podium. The concert lasted for more than four hours. 
 “Scale and size have figured prominently in human efforts to mark cosmic and
geological time, from patterns etched on land in ancient rituals to earthworks created
in the 1970s”

-unlike Bach’s music, Beethoven’s 5th was always great received, being featured in the inaugural
concerts of the New York Philharmonic and National Symphony Orchestra
