Beauty beyond what is seen

Descriptions of beauty are thrown at us everyday in various and opposing views. While many
people stay with the belief that beauty is internal, society’s view of beauty urge us from every angle. In
modern times, having good physical appearance is a necessity because it is one way to please other
people.

Time passes by, modern technology arises as well as how people view beauty. Social media
became a great factor in setting standards. As they turn on televisions, surf websites and enter on virtual
world they found themselves battling identity issues due to the unrealistic beauty standards set by what
they see on social media.

Today’s beauty has become superficial and a term that is dangerous and used as a weapon to
control the mindsets of others. Mindset that they can only gain compliments if they have perfect curve,
fair skin, and tall body. This pressures every men and women to become a good-looking individual that
leads them in having low self-esteem.

We cannot avoid the fact that all of us, men or women, without any exception, have some sort
of infatuation to be attractive. But did you ever wonder what really pushes us to be like this, to be
obsessive about beauty and fame? What do we always bump into wherever we go, which slowly abducts
the minds and lifestyle of our people? What serves as an “inspiration” for individuals in pertaining their
dreams to looking just like magazine photos of celebrities, to be “perfect”?

It is none other than the media that affects people’s perspective of real beauty. It is extremely
difficult to avoid viewing advertisements of pills and cosmetics for “beauty enhancements,” as they are
present in every form of popular media. The media is bombarding us with different outlooks of reality
and no one seems to be bothered about it. Models being soaked with makeup just to hide their flaws is
a way of being unrealistic. It is the act of hiding what is real and showing off an unhealthy image of
beauty.

Real beauty is rarely seen by people. Coco Chanel once said: “Beauty begins the moment you
decided to be yourself” This philosophy explains that true beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Look into
those narrow dark orbs known as eyes. You will see a person’s true personality. Through looking deep
into their eyes, you can feel the person’s emotion, whether they are optimistic or in a state of sadness.
Life is easier if we live in what is real. We should just look beyond what is seen.

There might be circumstances when people look down on their own physical structure. It is
because they are comparing themselves to others too much. You always hide your imperfections when
you try to be someone else. We are special in our own way. If we really want to think ourselves as
beautiful, be thankful and faithful. We do not have to brag about our beauty, but we can prove to
ourselves that we are valuable.
