How does your Values Affect your Actions and Behavior Towards Others?

Values can affect behavior largely because they have an impact on my thoughts. And
there is a simple link between thoughts and actions. Thoughts are what cause me to act.
According to Maiese (2016), values are individual beliefs that motivate people to act one way or
another. They serve as a guide for human behavior. Generally, people are predisposed to adopt
the values that they are raised with. People also tend to believe that those values are “right”
because they are the values of their particular culture.
Based on my personal experience, I am a type of a person that is hard to be with if I am
not in mood. Sometimes my friends affects how do I behave which also make them disappointed
at the same time. Somehow nowadays, I can control my own emotion to avoid these situations.
Values influence my behavior because I use them to decide between alternatives.
It is important to be mindful of our beliefs and behaviors because it allows us to: identify
why we do what we do. Identify for ourselves or for the young person or colleague what the
results of our acts would be. Consider other choices or better ones. Values, attitudes, behaviors
and beliefs are cornerstones of who we are and how we do things. They form the basis of how
we see ourselves as individuals, how we see others, and how we interpret the world in general.
