Introduction : stress has a negative impact on the physical and mental health of
dental students, especially for pediatric dentistry, the level of anxiety and stress of
dental students rises to its peak because managing children in a dental chair is a
big challenge for every dentist. The purpose of this study was to determine the
stress level of dental clinic students in conducting pedodontic procedures at the
Faculty of Dentistry, University of Baiturrahmah.

Method : this type of research is a quantitative analytic description, the


population in this study were clinical students in the Paedodonti section of the
University of Baiturrahmah, taken randomly in 2018 and 2019 with 62 samples
with simple random sampling techniques and research instruments using a
questionnaire, data analysis using chi test -square.

Results : showed students in 2018 and 2019 almost equally found it difficult to
cope with stress and lack of confidence when caring for pediatric patients in terms
of performing pedodontic extraction procedures as many as 65% of 2019 students.
Among students of all years, 75% more students love the tell-show-do method for
managing pediatric patients. Acceptance and spiritual methods are preferred by
most students of all years as a strategy for dealing with stress.

Conclusion : this study revealed that stress levels were generally high among
clinical practice beginners and decreased in sustainable practice. Students who
have knowledge of child psychology and behavioral management techniques
agree that it helps in reducing stress levels
