This document outlines a 4-step problem solving process: 1) Define the problem clearly to identify the real issue, 2) Identify multiple alternatives or options to address the problem, 3) Determine criteria for evaluating the alternatives such as risks and advantages, 4) Evaluate the alternatives using methods like decision trees to select the optimal solution.

- Defining a problem requires critical thinking. A well-defined problem often contains its own solution within it, and that solution is usually quite obvious and straightforward. By defining problems properly, you make them easier to solve, which means saving time, money and resources. It involves diagnosing the situation so that the focus is on the real problem. 2.) Identify the alternatives - Once you found out the cause of the problem, you can now to proceed in identifying the alternatives wherein you give yourself options then narrow it based on the most effective and useful among all of them. Of course, it will be more efficient to coordinate it with the constraints and other elements of the problem you are trying to figure out in the first place. 3.) Determine the criteria - Grouping the criteria is helpful in terms of choosing between the options or alternatives, it determines the risk, as well as the advantages and disadvantages for each. 4.) Evaluate the alternatives - There are several ways to evaluate alternatives that will be functional for the decision making such as making a decision tree that will provide the possible outcome or probabilities for the choice.
