Aesop’s Fables

Create a fable
You are going to make up a fable of your own.

First of all, choose a moral. You can pick from this list, or choose one of
your own.

Practice makes perfect.

Don’t put something off until the next day.
If you see someone in need, help them out.
Don’t always follow the crowd.
Treat others as you would like to be treated.
Nobody likes a show off.

Next, choose your characters (usually animals and often two).

lion bear mouse bat cat tiger fish

spider fly ladybird turtle shark rabbit dog

horse elephant snail frog snake monkey

Decide where your fable will be set.

the sea in a jungle in a garden

under a log by a pond on a farm

you have chosen.

Now you are ready to write your fable! Remember to:

 use capital letters and full stops for you sentences
 use speech marks around spoken words
 end with a moral
 refer to the animals as ‘Fox’ or ‘Dog’, for example – don’t give them
names.
