 Work from home has become very much of a reality these day since the
outbreak of coronavirus or also known as COVID-19 pandemic. It also has becoming
more and more trendy on the internet as there’s a lot of companies and virtual
employees are writing about it. For some people, working from your couch or even
from bed sounds great in theory. However, there’s also disadvantages of working
from home that most people didn’t ever thought or know until they suddenly have to.

One of the down side of working from home is having difficulties or lack of
communication. When it comes to communication with a remote worker, there are
lots of options out there to communicate with their co-worker or their boss which is
beyond the phone and email, like for example, by using Microsoft Teams, Zoom and
any other teleconference software. But those doesn’t make it more easier if the
person isn’t on the other end. On the other hand, not everyone is a tech-geek and
know how to use a modern technology which is essential for effective communication
with their office or boss. For examples is when the new employee had just start
working, they going to need to ask a lot of question to their boss or their senior about
anything regarding their work and they need the answer fast.

The next disadvantages of working from home is loss of productivity. People

usually will tend to not realize that their productivity has declining when they work
from home as their boss would not being around to monitor them and evaluate their
productivity. Moreover, they also will loss of productivity due to background noise,
massive distractions and also unreliable internet access which is due to a poorly
maintained connection. For example, a task that would take only one hour in an
office could take five hours with distractions.

Lastly, the disadvantages of working from home is increased

telecommunications costs. By working from, some company will need to provide or
supply their employee with a mobile phones or a laptop for work purpose and maybe
also with internet broadband subscription which will cost them a fortune. For some
people, they have to use their own money to subscribe a much better internet plan
as their company or boss didn’t even provide them with those facilitate. For example,
a company need to spend a lot of money to facilitate their employee so that they can
do their work efficiently and effectively.
 In conclusion, the disadvantages of working from home is having difficulties or
lack of communication, loss of productivity and increased telecommunications costs.
Even if you don’t have an enthusiastic office, try and founded a workspace and make
it off limits to the remainder of your household while you’re working. There’s nothing
worse than being on a very important work call only to possess the doorbell ringing,
the dog barking, and therefore the kids screaming within the background.
