Capacity
(cube)
(rectangular prism)

A B

B is a perfect cube because the measurements are all the same. A

cube is made of 6 equal square faces.

A is a rectangular prism because the measurements are different. A

rectangular prism is made of 6 rectangular faces. Sometimes, 4
rectangular faces.

SAMPLE PROBLEMS
1. What is the volume of a rectangle that has length, width and
height of 12in, 6in and 5in, respectively?

Temperature
• is a degree of hotness or coldness the can be measured
using a thermometer.
• It is also a measure of how fast the atoms and molecules of
a substance are moving.
• Temperature is measured in degrees on the Fahrenheit,
Celsius, and Kelvin scales.

Fahrenheit
• temperature scale named after the German-Dutch physicist
Daniel Gabriel Fahrenheit (1686–1736), who proposed it in 1724

• In this scale, the freezing point of water is 32 degrees Fahrenheit

(written “32 °F”), and
• the boiling point is 212 degrees “212 °F”

CELSIUS
• previously known as the centigrade scale

• Invented in 1742 by the Swedish astronomer Anders Celsius

• In this scale, the freezing point of water is 0 degrees Celsius

(written “0 °C”), and

• the boiling point is 100 degrees “100 °C”

Fahrenheit to Celsius
(°F - 32) x = °C

Celsius to Fahrenheit
(°C x ) + 32 = °F

SAMPLE CONVERSION
1. Convert 37˚C to degree Fahrenheit.
2. Convert 97˚F to degree Celsius.
