FILMING GUIDELINES FOR


DIGITAL SUBMISSIONS
GENERAL GUIDANCE

PERFORMANCE
▸ The entire exam must be submitted as one continuous performance. This
includes pieces, scales and technical exercises. Any evidence of editing
the performance will amount to disqualification of the candidate.

▸ No information about the candidate needs to be verbally provided in the


video at the beginning of the performance. The recorded files need to be
labelled appropriately.

▸ Assistance can be given to film the performance and announce the names
of the Scales and Arpeggios.

▸ The book needs to be closed while performing the Scales and Arpeggios.
However, it can be used while playing the Pieces and the Exercises.
GENERAL GUIDANCE

THE ROOM

▸ The room should be quiet with no external noises like fans,


TV etc.

▸ The room should be well lit to ensure a clear view of the


candidate.

▸ There should not be any unnecessary items in the camera


view that can obstruct the examiner’s view of the
candidate hands.
RECORDING GUIDANCE

RECORDING DEVICE
▸ The video can be recorded using any suitable phone or tablet
(‘device’).

▸ The device should be on Airplane and Silent Mode while


recording to avoid any disturbances.

▸ The device can be placed on a tripod, hand-held or be steadily


placed somewhere. Please ensure that the microphone is not
covered in doing so.

▸ The device should have enough storage to record the complete


performance.

CAMERA ANGLES

▸ The camera should be placed at the candidate’s eye level


approximately and cover the entire playing range of the
Piano/keyboard (Refer Illustration on the next page).

▸ Please ensure that both the hands are in the frame.

▸ The original book/authorised photocopies used by the


candidate must be visible in the frame.
