NN3D Clean Re-Installation

Introduction: This document explains how to perform a total reconfiguration of a

NavNet Network. This can be useful ONLY in the following case:
- Two Masters are assigned on a network (Windows IP address conflict error)
- You have unexplained problems and you don’t know what to do next (after
checking all the connection and performing the traditional troubleshooting
process)
- You want to perform a “clean v1.09 software upgrade” (always recommended)

Don’t forget that to perform a clean re-installation, a USB mouse and Keyboard will be
required on the MFDBB.

1. Master Reset / Update

If the user has already made some WPT and/or RTE, use a regular SD-Card to backup
the Routes and Waypoints. Press the [MENU] key and select the “Files” menu page and
click on “Export Route and Waypoint”

Disconnect all the MFD(s) from the network (this can be done at the HUB or from the
back of every MFD). Also disconnect any NMEA0183 or NMEA2000 connection (just
leave the power cable and the BB Keyboard on the MFDBB connected).

Perform a Master Reset on every MFD (one by one). Please refer to the “Master Reset”
process.

Reminder: The MFDBB will automatically shut down after the Master Reset (this
confirms that the reset was correctly done). The MFD8/12 will not shut down, but the
Installation Wizard should appear with the Language selection (after the countdown)
confirming the Master Reset. When the Language selection window appears on the
Installation Wizard, simply manually shut down the MFD8/12.

Perform a software update at this stage if needed.

Make sure every MFD is off before proceeding to the next step.
2. Choosing the Master
Select the MFD that you want to be set up as the Master and turn it ON.

When the Installation Wizard appears (you can skip the countdown since nothing needs
to be scanned), set the Master setting to ON and click on Exit.
The MFD will automatically shut down.

3. Reconnecting
Make sure that all the MFDs are OFF (including the Master) and reconnect everything
(NMEA0183, NMEA2000, Network).
At this stage is it highly recommended to turn OFF the power of the Boat (breaker), to
make sure that the HUB, DFF1, BBWX1 are OFF.

Repower everything and start the MFD(s) beginning with the Master.
Note that you can start the MFD slave(s) just after turning ON the MFD Master (you
don’t need to wait for the MFD Master to be operational).

At this stage, the Installation Wizard should launch on every MFD. If this is not the case,
go to the Menu and select the Installation Wizard.

4. Reconfiguring
During the Installation Wizard countdown, make sure that every MFD(s) see the Radar
and Sounder (if you missed the countdown, look for the Radar and Sounder tab: if they
appear, radar and sounder are correctly detected).

Note: If the Radar and Sounder are not available on one MFD, you will need to
troubleshoot the Ethernet connections. Power OFF the MFD (don’t click on Exit on the
Installation Wizard) in order to NOT take a snapshot of the configuration, make sure the
connections are OK and repower the MFD (make sure it sees the Radar and/or
Sounder).

Continue the Installation Configuration on the Master and on the slave(s) (if NMEA0183
instruments are connected to the slave). You will need a USB mouse on the MFDBB.

Reminders:

- Do not output any sentence to the BBWGPS

- Use the “Port Monitoring” to check that the NMEA0183 sensors are correctly
working (especially the Heading Sensor).

- You will have to link the MFDBB keyboard only if they are not working (use the
RotoKey to confirm that they are not working before assigning the KB again)

- Explain to the dealer/end user to always power on the Master first.

- If the HUB101 is used you can theoretically press the power button on a slave
(since the Master will automatically power on at the same time). But you need to
make sure that the Master is never “hard shutdown” (explain the difference to
dealer and end user)
