5.2 Control Thermistors

Three standard unique thermistors control all temperature functions:
 One thermistor is mounted in airway temp. probe at the end of the delivery hose to
measure temperature. This temperature is indicated by the LED display on the
humidifier control panel.
 Another thermistor mounted in chamber probe measures the temperature at the top
of the humidifying chamber. In heater wire mode this thermistor is used to monitor
and control the chamber temperature.
 The other thermistor is permanently mounted in intimate contact with the heater
plate, which prevents overheating.

a. Use an instrument (such as clamp meter, multi meter, etc.) to measure current.
Current resolution must be 0.01A and tolerance <±2%.
b. Install the instrument mentioned above properly to measure input current of
VH-3000.
c. As the picture above, connect ventilator, breathing circuit (G-214000), and
temperature simulator (VH30T000-4038) to VH-3000.
d. Set VH-3000 at heater wire mode with 39/-2 level.
e. The measurement of maximum input current must be under 0.10A.
f. Set VH-3000 at heater wire mode with 39/+2 level.
g. As described below, to input the mains and find out maximum input current
accordingly:

VADI Medical Technology Co. Ltd 30

Input voltage(mains) 50/60 Hz Input current
90V < 1.25A
100V < 1.39A
VH3000-110 110V < 1.53A
120V < 1.67A
130V < 1.81A
180V < 0.63A
200V < 0.69A
VH3000-220 220V < 0.76A
240V < 0.83A
260V < 0.90A

Testing Purpose:
Make sure heater plate power output is correct.

h. Set VH-3000 at heater wire mode with 39/-2 level.

i. Enable Stand by mode.
j. Unplug the power cable ( VH30200 ) which is connected at the end of inspiratory
circuit. And connect the expiratory circuit. According to input voltage and find out
maximum input current shown as figure 5-1.
k. Unplug the power cable ( VH30200 ) which is connected at the end of expiratory
circuit. And connect the inspiratory circuit. According to input voltage and find out
maximum input current shown as figure 5-1.
l. Plug power cables ( VH30200 ) those are connected at the end of inspiratory and
expiratory circuit. According to input voltage and find out maximum input current
shown as figure 5-1.

9.6 Burn-in Test

Test Lung
Ventilator

a. As shown above, please connect VH3000 and breathing circuits to the ventilator
for simulation.
b. Set the ventilator flow for 10LPM.
c. Set the VH3000 at heater wire mode with +39 / -2 level.
d. As disconnect the temperature probe ( blue one ) which is connected on the side
of VH3000, temperature probe alarm will be sounded immediately.
e. As disconnect the heater wire cable ( yellow one ) which is connected on the side
of VH3000, heater wire cable alarm will be sounded immediately.
f. Please connect VH30T000-4038 to VH3000, temperature reading will show wye
at 40.0±0.1℃, chamber at 38.0±0.1℃.
VH30T000-4038

g. Connect back temperature probe and heater wire cable.

h. After one-hour burn-in test at least, temperature can be controlled stably at 39 ±
2℃ for wye, 37±2℃ for chamber.

Testing Purpose:
Use a VH-3000 humidifier to test temperature probe accuracy.
Make sure heater wire I/O is normal
Make sure heater plate I/O is normal.
