forced to cut workers off, leaving the people jobless in this time of pandemic. Job loss is one

of the most common reasons why people get anxiety, and why people are depressed. Some

people cope up with their stress through online shopping while others engage in gardening

and plant business to earn income during the pandemic while taking care of their mental

health.

Gardening has proven to be beneficial for one’s mood. Beyond seeing your hard work

pay off, studies have shown that horticulture can actually assist with mental health. In fact,

gardening has even prescribed in some situations where patients experience such things as

anxiety and depression.

II.. Proposed Solution

The development of this mobile shopping app is specifically to cater the plat needs of

“plantitos” and “plantitas” – a Gen Z term for people who are obsessed or engaged in

gardening. This mobile app is beneficial in a way that this does not require buyers to go out

and buy something that they want without risking their lives.

Moreover, this mobile app also supports the #SupportLocal movement. The

#SupportLocal movement was created to divert the attention from commercial companies and

other capitalists to our local farmers in the market. The partner stores of this app are local

farmers and pot makers. It will also be a big help to the locals that are affected by this

pandemic.
III. Business Venture

This mobile plant customization and

shopping app project provides customers

with all the necessary advantages of online

shopping, it aids users in selecting and

buying the products in the shop anywhere

through the internet by using an electronic

device such as phone, computers, etc.

Growcery is developed to cater the plant

needs of plant-lovers on quarantine and also

gives the local farmers an opportunity to

reach bigger audience for their products.

In this app, you can choose if you want to

purchase a plain plant, a pot, or a fertilizer.

After you input your desired plant, a list of

all the partnered stores where your plant is

available will be showed. Then you can

choose your store of choice. The description

of your plant choice, the recommended

fertilizer for it, and how to take care of it will

also be displayed.

Ever since the quarantine started, the demand for plants – especially indoor plants,

succulents, and herbs increased greatly. There are even online groups in Facebook that

practices the “barter” tradition where people exchange stuff without the involvement of

money. This just shows that people are interested in the plant business in this pandemic.

Even though there are existing shops and personal businesses that offer this kind of

services, the Growcery app stand out for its customization feature. The customization feature

allows the buyer to choose the plant that fits his/her aesthetic without changing the

appearance of the plant after it is delivered. This app gives the buyers a wide-range of

choices.

Also in this app are information about the plants and the recommended fertilizer that fits

its needs. In this way, all the work that should be done by the buyer is done by the app itself.
