Portable D.O. Meter INSTALLATION and USE
2.1 OOBA
Notice the packing direction, open the case from the top, and check packing list.
Note
Electrode membrane and filling solution will not be used at the beginning, but you should
conserve them carefully.
2.2 Dimension
USB
2.3 Measure
Meter have water inlet tube and drainpipe with length about 1m, external diameter Φ6(it has been
connected before shipment) and two switch soft tubes. When carrying out operation, choose
proper switch soft tube and install on the water inlet tube, the other side connects to sample tube.
And then put the drainpipe into the flume or trench. Adjust the sample flow rate to (50~
350)mL/min, long press the power button for 3s to turn on the instrument and enter into
measurement state, read the concentration when value is stable.
Note
Leakage will strongly affect the measured result, so in the measurement process, screw
down all the water inlet tubes, and ensure the sample inlet tube and sample pipeline being
covered more than 20mm.
Electrode connecting line is only used to transfer signal, DO NOT carry or pull the line with
hands.

Portable D.O. Meter INSTALLATION and USE
Note
1. Use the special charger or USB connector to charge, charger of other brand or model will
bring damage to the battery.
2. When battery is too low, charge in time, over-discharge or overcharge will affect the battery
use time.
3.When instrument is long time out of use, full charge the battery. As the battery(and loop) will
self-discharge about 5% a month, charge the battery termly, guarantee the battery being
charged more than 40%.
4. DO NOT use or store under high temperature, for it will affect battery life, and even blast.
5. USB connector is used to transmit measured data and charge the battery, in the process of
measurement, screw down the connector cap to prevent circuit from damage.
The Meter has the function of manual store and auto store, in the process of measurement, press
the Save key to store the measured value. Long press 3s to enter the auto store state, set the
storage cycle and the instrument will automatically store the measured data according to the time
interval.
Measured data stored can be downloaded into a PC through USB connector for futher inquiry and
analysis, as shown in fig 2.2, to read “do.txt” on screen in notepad or Excel.
Please wait enough time when USB cable connect to the computer, Don’t open the USB drive
when it is setting up, otherwise error occurred.

V .USE METHOD
5.1 start-up
Note:
1. Must read programming section before instrument work.
2. Make sure connection is right and reliable.
5.2 CALIBRATION
There’re 6 calibration methods: Zero Cal, Air Cal, Sample Cal, Temp Cal, Pressure Cal and
Electric Trim.
Note
The instrument has been factory calibrated, there’s no need to recalibrate.
Each oxygen electrode has its corresponding zero and slope, and the value will vary with
the consumption of the electrolyte. In order to get a more accurate measure, termly zero
and air calibration is necessary.
If the instrument is for first time use, replacement of electrode/membrane, add electrolyte
or long-term out of use, carrying out zero and air calibration is necessary.
Carry out sample calibration according to practical requirements.
In the main menu, enter into Calibration submenu and select corresponding item, then press Enter
key to start.
In the process of calibration, place the electrode in different environment according to the selected
calibration items. Put the electrode in oxygen free water when carrying out zero calibration; put it in
the air when air calibration; carry out sample calibration in flow measurement; put the electrode in
the temperature of one or two different places (resistance box analog can be used); remove the
electrode when carrying out electric trim

5.2.2 Air Cal
Air calibration is to calibrate the slope.
Preparation:
Ensure the electrode is completely polarized.
The surface of electrode should keep dry, otherwise the drip on the surface will affect oxygen
measured value.
It’s better to calibrate in the ambient with the same temperature. If the electrode is just taken from
water, or the difference between storage temp. and on site temp. is big, you should wait for about
15-20 minutes to keep the electrode stable, then you can carry out air cal.

it.
Wash the electrode with pure water completely and soak up the water on the electrode
surface with soft napkin. Don’t wipe the electrode membrane with force.
Warning
Electrolyte contains potassium hydroxide which is lower than 1%, avoid any contact with eyes,
if contact with eyes, wash with large amount of water immediately.
Note
1. DO NOT touch the gold cathode surface, for grease on hands will influence the electrode.
2. Avoid frication and contact with sharp-edged objects, for electrode membrane is easy to be
damaged.
3. Electrolyte of the oxygen electrode should be used within term of validity.
24
P o rta b l e D .O. Me te r MA IN TEN AN CE
Generally, it is not necessary to wash the gold cathode unless there is dirt or sliver boundary
layer on the surface.
Polish the gold cathode with metallographic abrasive paper(1200#) till the dirt and sliver
boundary layer are completely removed.
Rinse the electrode with pure water, soak up the water on the electrode surface with soft
napkin.
Store the electrode:
When the electrode is filled with electrolyte, it can be stored for several months. Put the
electrode in the flow cell where contains some water to keep the membrane and electrolyte
wet.
When the electrode is out of use for a long time (over 6 months), rinse the gold cathode and
membrane cap, and then store without injecting any electrolyte.
