A. The History of Davao Wisdom Academy

The Davao Wisdom Academy was registered in the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) on August
28, 2001, as a non-stock, non-profit educational organization. On November 15, 2001, it was officially registered
under its present name, Davao Wisdom Academy, in the Department of Trade and Industry. It was officially
launched on April 26, 2002 with visitors from the private and government sectors.

The Academy was granted Government Permit No. 001 s. 2002 for Preschool and Elementary; and
Government Permit NO. 012 s. 2002 for First Year and Second Year High School; and Government Permit No.
019 s. 2002 for Third Year and Fourth Year High School. When it started on June 17, 2002, it had 378 students
from preschool to fourth year, with 16 classrooms, having one section for every year level, except for Grade 1
with sections.

B. Davao Wisdom Academy’s Vision-Mission

Davao Wisdom Academy is a Filipino, non-sectarian and socially responsive institution, guided by the
core values of INTELLIGENCE, INTEGRITY and INDUSTRY. It envisions to develop individuals recognized for
excellence and competence.

C. Goals

1. To become the school of choice that provides quality but affordable education.
2. To produce well-rounded individuals who are academically competent, spiritually equipped, socially aware
of, and morally involved in the concerns of the global community.
3. To attract and retain the best and brightest personnel and provide their professional growth, physical well-
being and economic stability.
4. To strengthen partnership with Parents-Teachers and Community Association (PTCA), the Alumni and other
stakeholders.

H. School Gogo: Distinctive Elements

A. The Greek letters at the bottom of the triangle reads SOPHIA meaning Wisdom.
B. Circle meaning the full development of the student.
C. The Equilateral Triangle represents Academic Excellence.
D. The Holy Book means the Word of God.
E. Laurel leaves represents the different subjects and facets of the Academy.
F. The torch represents the students who carries with them the ideals of the Academy.
I. Uniform

For Boys:
a. White polo with the Davao Wisdom Academy seal on the left pocket.
b. Navy Blue for grade 4to grade 10 Junior High School.
c. Navy Blue shorts for Pre-school to grade 3.
d. Black leather shoes with white socks.
e. Plain white undershirt
The prescribe uniform for boys includes the prohibitions from wearing/s and outlandish haircuts. Fancy
hairstyle or unreasonable shaving of heads is prohibited.

No wearing of earing inside the campus.

For Girls (Pre-school and Elementary)

a. White trauvenize collar blouse with the Davao Wisdom Academy seal on the left
pocket.
b. Round-pleated navy blue skirt. (2 inches below the knee)
c. Black leather shoes and white socks.
d. ID must have worn at all times.

For Girls (High School)


a. White trauvenize collar blouse with the Davao Wisdom Academy seal on the left
pocket.
b. Round-pleated navy blue skirt. (knee length or 2 inches below the knee)

e. No wearing of make-up, nail polish, colored hair is strictly not allowed.

J. Grading System

K to 12

Base on DepEd Order 73, s 2012 and DepEd Order 8, s 2015, the school will be following the new guidelines on
student’s assessment and rating outcomes based on the K to 12 Basic Education Curriculum.

Assessment.

Components Purpose
Written Work (WW) 1. Assess learner’s understanding of concept and application of skills
in written form.
2. Prepare leaner’s for quarterly assessment.
Performance Task (PT) 1. Involve students in the learning process individually or in
collaboration with teammates over a period of time.
2. Give students opportunities to demonstrate and integrate their
knowledge, understanding and skills about a topics or lessons learned
in a specific real-life situation by performing and/or producing
evidence of their learning.
3. Give students the freedom to express their learning in appropriate
and diverse ways.
4. Encourage student inquiry, integration of knowledge,
understanding and skills in various contexts beyond the assessment
period.

Quarterly Assessment (QA) 1. Synthesize all the learning skills, concepts, and values learned in
the entire quarter.

The computation of the Graded Weighted Average (GWA) for the K to 12 Curriculum for Elementary and Junior
High School will be based on the transmuted grade/Final Grade per subject then get the average by adding all the
subjects and divided by total number of learning areas to get the GWA.

EXAMINATION

1. There will be 4 Preliminary Test, 4 Periodic Test and 1 Summative Test to be administered in the entire
school year. 1 Preliminary Test and 1 Periodic Test per grading period while one summative test can be
given during the mid of the 3rd of the 4th grading period.
2. Only students with signed Examination Permit from the Student Handbook by the cashier can take the
examination.
3. Examination cannot be given ahead of the general schedule of examination. Any change of schedule within
the examination period should be duly authorized by the Basic Education Director.
4. Special Examinations shall be given only to:
a. Students who had been sick with a Doctor’s Certificate and had informed the Office a day before the
examination.
b. Death and/or burial within the immediate member of the family.
c. Students who officially representing the school in any competition.
5. Non-payment of accounts due should not be a reason for giving special examinations, especially to honor
students.
6. A student who is caught cheating in any form will get automatically gets a grade of 65% in that particular
examination and a demerit/sanction given by the Prefect of Discipline.
7. The following norms must be observed in all examinations:
a. Any student who is not in complete uniform and proper haircut (male students only) will not be allowed
to take the examination.
b. All bags, notebooks, etc., must be placed away from the students during the examination. Teachers may
designate an area to place all the things with the classroom.
c. Talking and lending calculators or any examination requirement will not be allowed during the
examination.
d. Students who finished earlier in their examination, must review their examination paper thoroughly
before submitting. They need to stay outside the classroom to review their lesson. They are not allowed
to loiter and create unnecessary noise.
e. Once examination started, no student is allowed to leave the classroom until the bell has rung.
f. All examination papers are to be submitted at the end of the period.

Criteria for Retention and Promotion of Pupils/Students

A. Final grade of 75 or higher in all learning areas allows the student to be promoted to the next grade level.
For Grade 1-10, a learner who did not meet expectations in at most two learning areas must take remedial
classes, Remedial classes are conducted after the Final grades have been computed. The learner must pass the
remedial classes to be promoted to the next grade level. However, teachers should ensure that learners
receive remediation when they earn raw scores which are consistently below expectations is written work and
performance tasks by the fifth week of any quarter. This will prevent a student form failing in any learning area
at the end of the year.

 Given to learners who demonstrated exemplary skills in motivating others and organizing projects that
have significantly contributed to the betterment of the school/community

 Given to learners who have shown outstanding skills in athletics through participation and victories of

E.2 ARTS

 Given to learners who have consistently demonstrated outstanding skills in the art, above average
creativity and craftsmanship exemplified through contribution to school’s various functions
 Academic basis: Students final grade in Music and Arts Contemporary Philippine Arts
E.3 COMMUNICATION ARTS

 Given to learners who have demonstrated proficiency in any language, in written or oral, shown
creativity in expressing ideas

 Given to learners who have high academic standing in science, demonstrated passion for
science work, shown enthusiasm and displayed inquisitiveness.

two core science subjects in SHS.
E.5 MATHEMATICS

 Given to learners who have high academic standing in mathematics, demonstrated passion for
science work, shown enthusiasm and displayed inquisitiveness. Academic basis: students final
grade in science for grades 6 to 10, or the average rating for the two core science subjects in
SHS.
E.6 SOCIAL SCIENCES
 Given to learners who have high academic standing in social sciences, have consistently
demonstrated the willingness and ability to contribute and participate in activities that serve
the people.
 Academic basis: students final grade in science for grades 6 to 10, or the average rating for the
two core science subjects in SHS.
F. CO-CORRICULAR/ EXTRA-CURRICULAR AWARD

 A special award given to students who has the highest number of points for co-curricular and
extra-curricular activity at the end of the year. The award may also be given for non-honors
students given that have at least a grade of 88 in all subjects from the first to fourth grading
period.
G. LOYALTY AWARD

Given to any high school graduating student who meets the following criteria:

 A student from pre-school to grade 12 senior high school


 Has not committed any major infractions according to the record of the prefect of discipline.
 Has upheld the good name of thee school
 Leads a good way of life
H. SERVICE AWARD

Awarded to any high school graduating student who meets the following criteria:

 Has headed and participated actively in school activities


 Has shown concern and willingness to extend help in whatever undertakings the school has had
 Has shown exemplary conduct and lives the ideals of the academy
 Finds pleasure in helping and serving others
 Responsible and reliable in whatever task is assigned to him.

I. ACADEMIC RECOGNITION AWARD

A special Academic Award given to students who has been able to be a Top Ten student in one to three
grading periods or four grading periods but did not meet the academic requirement to be part of the honors’
list.

J. PERFORMANCE RECOGNITION AWARD

Given to any student upon the recommendation of the subject teacher and adviser or
club/organization/varsity moderator to the honor and awards committee with proof of the exemplary
performance of the student that brought recognition and honor to the school.

K. REVIEW ON THE DEMERIT SYSTEM presented during the general orientation/create a class agreement in
making sure everyone will follow the school policies.
