Interview Plan

What I plan to wear:

I will be wearing nice pants and a nice shirt, and my low black boots for the interview in order to
make a positive first impression on the woman that I will be interviewing. It will help show that I
am respectful and ready to learn all that she has to share about her profession. My dress is
appropriate for the culture of the company because it is not too much (i.e. full on dress or pencil
skirt) but it is not too dingy (i.e. ripped jeans and a worn out t-shirt) it is nice professional
looking jeans and a nice top.

Opening:
Hello! (Smile and eye contact). Thank you so much for taking the time to meet with me! I really
appreciate it! I am very interested in journalism and I can’t wait to learn more!

Orientation:
So, I am doing this interview for my Communications college class, as I mentioned in the email I
sent you. I want to find more about what you do on a day to day basis, and how writing is
involved in your life.

So, I am going to go through each topic, with different questions for each, and ask you each
question one by one. Since this is a zoom meeting and I have headphones in so I cannot record
this, I am just going to need to write down your answers if that is okay with you?

This interview will not take long at all, it shouldn’t take more than 30 minutes of your time.
Also, at the end I have an evaluation form for you to fill out that I will send over, and then you
can fill it out and send it back to me through my email whenever it is most convenient for you.

Do you have any questions before we start?
