Vilter has extended the Single Screw compressor line with the addition of high
pressure heat pump screw compressor models VSSH-291 and VSSH-341. These
screw compressor units, with frames constructed of cast steel, are capable of operating
with ammonia at condensing temperatures up to 195ºF. Integrated into existing
ammonia refrigeration systems, the heat pump compressors provide a cost effective
solution to harnessing and converting your heat of rejection to high grade hot
water, up to 185ºF.

The Vilter high pressure heat pump compressors retain the single screw’s inherent
design advantages of balanced forces for long life and high reliability, and parallel
slides for peak performance at full or part load…performance and reliability superior
to any twin screw compressor.

Features:
• Vilter Single Screw Compressor with pressure ratings up to 950 psig MAWP.
• Differential pressures up to 600 psid.
• Vilter Parallex™ slide system to optimize compression efficiency (Capacity and Volume Ratio
continuously and independently variable from 10% to 100% and 1.2 to 7.0 respectively).
• High COP, even at part load conditions.
• Environmentally friendly ammonia (R-717) refrigerant.
• Suitable for use with fixed or variable speed drives up to 4800 rpm.

 Single Screw Heat Pump Compressors
The higher operating pressures associated with ammonia heat pump applications, for condensing
temperatures up to 195°F, to produce high grade hot water temperatures up to 185°F, dictate that the
compressor casing is constructed of cast steel. High differential pressures are achieved with minimal
modifications to the main rotor and gate rotors, and without the need for expensive thrust load balancing
systems.
Standard cast iron Single Screw compressor models VSS-291, VSS-341, VSS-451 and VSS-601 are limited
to applications with condensing temperatures up to 160°F.
Units may be pre-assembled on compact, maintenance friendly skids, pre-wired, thermally insulated,
