Introduction
This is an introductory course to the principles of digital communication. The emphasis is on
a solid and deep understanding of the basics rather than on covering a lot of ground. You may
have seen some of the topics before, but perhaps not in the depth for which we aim. Resist the
temptation to merely glance over these topics!

Amos Lapidoth, A Foundation in Digital Communication, Cambridge University Press, 2nd edition
(2017).
Tutorials
It is highly recommended to attend the tutorials. Some tutorials may cover new material.
Testat
No formal “Testat” requirements. Students are highly encouraged to solve the homework problems.
Exam
Written exam (3 hours). Hardcopies of the course textbook, course handouts, and personal notes
are allowed. No electronic devices.
