Aim: A detailed comprehension of the text

According to the World Health Organisation (WHO), cancer is globally

the second leading cause of deaths and nearly every one in six deaths is due to
cancer. However, one of the most viable options for controlling these figures
is by introducing the judicious
use of cancer screening in the
worldwide medical lexicon.

Cancer screening involves a

wide range of techniques starting
from a detailed history and
physical examination to
recognize warning signs and
symptoms such as a lump, weight
loss, chronic hoarseness,
persistent indigestion, resistant
sores, abnormal bleeding etc.
Each type of cancer has its own
screening tests. Some types of
cancer currently do not have an
effective screening method.

There is a reason the medical community has specific

recommendations for cancer screenings. First, It has contributed to
decreasing the morbidity and mortality of cancer. In addition, it helps prevent
cancer by finding changes in your body that would become cancer if left
untreated. It also helps find cancer early before one has symptoms and before it
spreads when it is easier to treat. Early detection may mean less treatment and
less time spent recovering because the earlier a cancer is detected, the better
your chance of survival. Therefore, screening is a vital aspect of
comprehensive healthcare. It is the best way to identify cancer in its
earliest stages, often before it causes any symptoms. Without screenings,
the ability for doctors to detect - and, therefore,

is greatly diminished.
The most important component in the fight against cancer is detecting it
as early as possible. Increased awareness of possible warning signs of cancer,
among physicians, nurses and other health care providers as well as among the
general public, can have a great impact on the disease
