Policy on Qualifying and Comprehensive Examination

I. General Guidelines
1. Only students who passed the cut-off grade of “C+“(for BSA) and “C” (for BSAIS) will be allowed to apply for the
exam.
2. On the day of exam, the student must present his/her duly accomplished Application for
Qualifying/Comprehensive Exam and the corresponding official receipt, which will serve as examination permit.
3. The examination fee of ₱200 per 3-unit course shall be paid directly to the University Cashier.
4. The student may bring only his/her pen or pencil, calculator, and examination permit inside the examination
room. All cellular phones, electronic gadgets, and other personal effects are not allowed inside the testing area.
Also, students are expected to follow the prescribed seating arrangement.
5. All examinees are expected to be in complete school uniform and must arrive at the testing room on time. Only
three (3) hours shall be allotted for each exam. Time begins the moment the Proctor starts distributing the test
papers to students.
6. For BSA, the passing rate per subject is 75%, computed as follows:
30% from Subject Grade (Upper Limit)
70% from Comprehensive Exam (Raw Score ÷ Perfect Score x 100)
100%
7. For BSAIS, the passing rate per subject is 65%, computed as follows:
30% from Subject Grade (Upper Limit)
70% from Comprehensive Exam (Raw Score ÷ Perfect Score x 100)
100%
8. The names of the top five (5) successful examinees, as well as the ID numbers of the other successful examinees
(in numerical order), shall be posted on the bulletin board at least five (5) working days after the last day of
examination.

II. Qualifying Exam (BSA and BSAIS Level I)


1. Students who have completed and passed Financial Accounting and Reporting in December shall take the
Comprehensive Exam I scheduled in December of the same term; while, students who have completed and
passed Financial Accounting and Reporting in May shall take the Qualifying Examination scheduled in May of the
same term. Failure to take the examination on the prescribed period shall disqualify their application.
2. The Comprehensive Examination to enter BSA Level II shall be given on the next Tuesday immediately after the
First Semester and the Second Semester’s final examination weeks. The examinations shall be scheduled in the
afternoon (2:00-5:00).
3. Failure to reach the 75% cut-off rating shall disqualify the student from proceeding to BSA Level II; and 65% for
BSAIS.
4. Only one examination retake (for BSA) and two (for BSAIS) will be provided.
5. Students who decide to wait will have to retake all the subjects in the Qualifying Exam Package but will only pay
for the failed subject in the previous exam.

GUIDELINES FOR ONLINE COMPREHENSIVE EXAMINATION

1. The examinee should be familiar with the grading system of the comprehensive examination.
2. On the day of the comprehensive examination, the examinee must have the following:
a. ballpen/pencil and sheets of clean paper
b.
c. stable internet connection
3. The comprehensive examination will be administered through iStudy.
4. The entire duration of the examination will be monitored via Zoom and the video will be
recorded as evidence. Examinees are advised to join the meeting 30 minutes before the start
of the examination.
5. It is a MUST that the examinee is visible and audible throughout the duration of the exam.
VISIBLE means that the student and his/her paper is within the angle and frame of the
camera being used. AUDIBLE means that the student's microphone should be turned on yet
no noise should be heard throughout the exam. Turning off the camera and microphone will
mean disqualification from the examination.
6. Examinees will be given 3.5 hours instead of the usual 3 hours to answer the comprehensive
exam.
7. Whenever necessary, supporting computations/solutions should be duly prepared and
submitted. A separate link will be provided in iStudy.
