USER INTERFACE
The user interface is composed of three main areas:
• Control Area, which contains the commands to control the cameras remotely and displays the status information about
the cameras themselves
• Configuration area, which contains all the buttons that allow to navigate through the various CCTV control panels
• Application Context Area, which contains the configuration panels summoned by clicking on the related buttons in the
configuration area, as well as the panels to view live and recorded video streams

APPLICATION AREA
The panels shown in this area contain all the options for managing the operating system of the BEST video surveillance. Let’s
see them in detail.

QUAD CONFIGURATION PANEL


This is used to configure the layout of the Live panel, where the video cameras streams are displayed. The steps for
configuring a layout are the following:
1. Select the quad type by clicking the radio button (see an example 2x2 quad for four cameras in the following picture)
2. Select the camera required for each black box. This operation is carried out by clicking on the black box; as a result,the
list of available cameras pops up.
3. Click “Confirm” and start playing the live streams. Clicking “Back” will void your selections and re-enable the last valid
configuration.

CAMERA SETTINGS PANEL


This panel presents a series of options for each camera available in the video surveillance system, in order to allow customizing
the cameras profiles.

• Activate Cam – turns on/off the


camera
• Motion Detect – enables or
disables motion detection
• Continous Rec – enables
or disables the continuous
recording mode

Click “apply” to confirm the changes


made to one or more cameras.
The area dedicated to the specific
features of the camera allows to
configure the life cycle of the events
produced by the video surveillance
system.

APPLICATION AREA

EVENT MANAGEMENT PANEL


This panel allows to manage the video events recorded by the video surveillance system. The user can search the list for the
events recorded, specifying the start and end times, and a camera (“Choose cam ...”).
After setting the search criteria, the events are retrieved by clicking “Get Events”.
Optionally, the camera may be left unspecified and, as a result, all the events of all cameras will be displayed, if related to the
time frame set in the search criteria.
The time period may also be left unspecified, so to get a list of all events currently associated with a specified camera or all
cameras.
Clicking the “Start Time” or “End Time” buttons will display a calendar to specify these times.
Clicking “Choose cam ...” will display a list of available cameras to choose from.

LIVE VIEW PANEL


This panel presents the live video streams.

To use the PTZ (Pan Tilt Zoom) control you must click on the video stream of interest, then click on the specific PTZ buttons.

PLAY BACK PANEL


This panel plays a recorded video event.
The “play / pause control” buttons marked in the figure allow to start and stop playing the recorded video, and navigate the
individual frames.
The “Prev” and “Next” buttons allow to step back and forward in the sequence of video events.
Clicking the “Edit Notes” button pops up a keyboard that allows to change the description associated with each event.

This area collects all the buttons necessary to draw the panels described above.
Besides the buttons to move across panels, there are additional buttons that perform the tasks:
• “Logout” button, to disconnect from the session
• Optional “Control on” button, which allows to enable or disable the control of PTZ cameras

CONTROL AREA
This area include two sub-panels:
• the PTZ panel (visible only if the “Live View” panel is enabled in the “Application Control Area”)
• the panel that shows the status of the cameras by LEDs. A green LED means that the camera is on; a red LED means that
camera is off. A blinking LED (between red and yellow) means that the camera has detected some motion.
