to Lead
Dear Name, August 20, 2019
Allie grew up with the world stacked against her. Losing both her parents at a young
age, she was raised by her grandmother in Magnolia, Arkansas, and eventually placed in
the foster care system. Her teenage years were filled with rebellious behavior, drug use and
instability. She moved from one foster home to the next, never finding a place to call home.
In the fall of 2018, Allie came to Vera Lloyd and felt like she finally had a family who
cared about her. It was clear from the start that Allie was a leader. People listened to her. They
strived to be like her. And, once she decided to turn her life around, she became more than
just a leader; she became an inspiration and voice of reason in her Vera Lloyd Home.
In May, Allie became the first person in her family to earn a high school diploma.
Through the Transition Services Program, she now works full-time at the Arkansas Workforce
Center and wants to pursue her CNA certification.
Thanks to you, Allie became the leader she was always meant to be.
Because of your dedication and support, youth like Allie can learn how to lead by example.
Will you empower Vera Lloyd’s youth and families with a gift? We need your help to provide
the transition services, academic tutors and healing care that they need to thrive.
