Lakshman: Wait! Wait! The world is not deprived of brave men.
Not as long as Dashrath’s sons are alive. My brother Ram was the
one who killed the wicked demon Tadka.

Dashrath: Kakai, I was thinking of announcing the Kinghood of

Ram, so that I can relieve myself from the duties of Kingdom. I’m
getting old as you know.
Kakai: It’s a good thought. The timing is right as well. And Ram is
most capable for these responsibilities.
Dashrath: You are right. I’ll make the announcement today itself.
Exit Dashrath, Enter Manthra
Manthra: My dear Queen. Can’t you see how deceitfully your
husband has acted? He has deliberately sent Bharat away so that he
can give the throne to his favorite son RAM
Kakai: That’s not true.
Manthra: Yes! It is true, and that’s not all. Once Ram becomes King
you will be compelled to act as Kaushalya’s maidservant and your
Bharat will be forced to be Ram’s slave.
Kakai: Manthra! Manthra! Manthra! Please be quiet, why are you
poisoning my mind in this way.
Manthra: Wake up Queen, before it is too late.
Kakai: Perhaps, you are right Manthra! But, but is there anything
we can do now?
Manthra: Yes! Between today and tomorrow there is one full night.
Listen carefully my dear Queen. Do you not remember, many years
ago, when Maharaja Dashrath was engaged in a fierce battle and

fell unconscious. You then removed him from the battlefield and
saved his life. Out of deep gratitude Maharaja offered you two
boons. However you said you would ask for them sometime in the
future.....................Now, Now is the time to ask for those boons:
Bharat to be installed as the king and Ram to be banished to the
forest for 14 years.
Exit Manthra
Dashrath- Kakai Kaka! What’s the matter why are you in this
state? How can i make you happy again?
Kakai: Make my son Bharat king and send Ram to the jungle for 14
years. That will make me happy.
Dasharath: Is this what you wish, or are my ears deceiving me! He
is to be crowned tomorrow. Tell me ..is that what you really want? I
will die without Ram.
Kakai - You heard me (stepping back)
This is my Wish. Ram’s exile.
Dasharath: O Kaikeyi, Bharat May be the King but not Ram’s
Exile!
Kakai: You promised to have given me anything I wish, what has
happened now!
Dasharath: Never!!! I will not be able to sustain my life without
Ram.
Enter Ram and Sita

Ram: What is it dad? What is wrong Mother Kakai?

Kakai: Will you tell him? or should I tell?Ram! I want your brother
Bharat as heir apparent to the throne. Secondly, I have asked that
you be exiled to the forest for 14 years
Ram: Is that all! I will give my life to uphold the dignity of my
father. It is my foremost duty.
Dashrath: Ram...........Ram........... Please don’t go!
Ram- Fourteen years will pass in a flash. And I will be back to play
chess with you. And let you win (he smiled)
I shall live there as an ascetic, eating roots and fruits, thinking about
how to make the world a better place.
Sita: If you are going to the forest, then I am coming with you. A
wife shares the fortune or the misfortune of the husband. I shall go
where you go.
Ram - Forest is not a place for you, my darling princess.
Sita- This palace without you will be full of thorns and stones.
Laxman: Bhaiya, allow me to accompany you. Just as a shadow
cannot be separated from its object, Laxman can never be separated
from Ram.

Scene 3 - Exile
Sita- I am very happy here Ram. Life is so simple, so
uncomplicated. We have learned so much about trees and flowers
and fruits. We have learned to respect the earth for all that she gives
us.
Ram- Well, your mother earth has certainly given you some fine
ornaments(slipping a bracelet of flowers on to Sita’s wrist)

OOMPA LOOMPA MUSICALS

Narrator-But Sita was not the only one admiring Ram at that
moment. Hidden in the trees nearby stood a Rakshasi. Her name
was Surupnakha, She, too, gazed at Ram with love in her eyes.
Surupnakha had never seen such an attractive man before .She burst
through the trees and bounded up to where Ram sat with his wife
and brother.
Surupnakha: (Attracted by Ram’s beauty) I am Surupnakha, sister
of the unconquerable Ravan. I want you to be mine. I don’t care
who you are or where you have come from.

Ram: I am already married but here is my younger brother,

handsome qualified and unmarried.
Surupnakha: I am certainly worthy of becoming YOUR wife, o
handsome one.
Laxman: This woman looks dangerous. Look at her - she’s a wild
thing from the forest!

Surupnakha(ignoring Laxman): It is all because of this Sita that the

two of you are playing games with me. I will eat her now and then
we will be free to roam together.
(Surupnakha attacks Sita)
Ram -Cut off her nose and ears Lakshman! Now!!
Laxman - Let me kill he!!

world who has no fear of you if they could do this to me.
Raavan - What are you talking about? Who is there in the three
worlds who is not scared of me. Who is it? I swar he shall not see
another sunrise. I am Raavan, the king of Lanka.

Furthermore, Surupnakha told Ravana of Sita's exquisite beauty and

at once the king of the demons desired her to be his wife.
Ravan was unlike any other Rakshas. He was the greatest of them
all. He had ten heads and 20 arms. But Ravan was arrogant-he
believed that nothing and no one could stop him from getting what
he wanted.
Raavan-(calls uncle Marich with 2 claps)- Marich, I am going to
abduct this beautiful Sita and I have a plan. Turn yourself into a
golden deer and draw Ram deep into the forest and I will carry his
wife Sita away. Sita will be mine. If I have to return to kill Ram and
his brother, I shall. HAHAHA
Marich – Ah Raavan! Do not make Ram your enemy. He is not a
human like the others. He’s special, the gods love him.
Raavan – You Coward! It’s my order.
