Exhaust-gas sensor

With future engine conceptions, the space available for exhaust-gas sensors will be getting ever tighter. In
addition, the sensors will be subjected to ever higher temperatures. Smaller, more versatile and above all
ready for operation in the shortest possible time: these will be the outstanding advantages of our further
developments. In order to conform to the future more stringent exhaust-gas regulations, high-quality
materials will be required which can withstand higher temperatures also at those points where connections
are made.

Application

 Engine management

Function
 Measuring the concentration of pollutants in the exhaust gas. This measured quantity is the basis
for the regulated three-way catalytic converter (gasoline engine) and for the lambda control function
(diesel engine)

Installation
 Exhaust-gas tract

Sensing principle

 Limit-flow principle

Technical data
 Constant signal and broad measuring range from λ = 0.65 air (LSU)

 Toxicity resistance due to pumped O2 reference

 Increased accuracy via temperature-regulated sensor heating
