participation problem. In group decision making, the failure of some group members to contribute their
information.

process loss. The inability of a group to take advantage of the informational resource represented by its
members.

representative inclusiveness. A form of inclusiveness in which only a small, manageable group of individuals is
asked to contribute information to the decision making process.

self-efficacy. The belief that one’s actions will lead to rewardable performance.

social dilemma. A conflict between individual and group incentives that may lead individuals to do what is not in
the best interests of the group.

triangulation. The use of multiple sources to decrease bias in information collection.
