What was the last Filipino short story in English that you have encountered?

I recently read Wedding Dance by Amador Daguio. Indeed, that it is a wonderful and
informative story as it represents the culture of our ancestors. Somehow it gives us a
glimpse on how life goes by. Symbolism occurs in a story in such way that it gives an
emphasis on the things that are utilized before. For example, in a particular wedding
dance, “gangsas” were used to provide beat in a ceremony, in other term, it symbolizes
the man of the wedding which are strong and the provider of the family. The dancing
before can depicts the sexuality of the women, that is why Lumnay was embarrassed to
go to the dance because she is not capable of bearing child.

The moral story is that you should let go the person you love, for her/him to be
happy. If someone loves you but you cannot give the things that makes them happy,
then let go of it, just like what happened with Lumnay and Awiyao.
